BIG Hat-tip to Drudge & Hannity! They both put this front-and-center, over the last few days.

The people are fed up with be abused by the federal government. This is mostly at the hands of the federal courts. What happened today was the federal courts were incrementally weakened. Since the left uses the federal courts to impose their will upon us, they will not let this type of activity go unchallenged. The take away here is they will show up at the next “event” ready to rumble. Be ready.

Yeh when you report to work there Monday morning. :-)

While I've done a fair amount of business with the BLM over the years, I'm not an employee.

And even though I'm not an employee of any federal agency, I can still see where somebody is trying to get something for nothing. And this Bundy guy is Poster Boy El Numero Uno. Like I say...I don't know of any other ranchers running cattle on federal lands that aren't paying their grazing rental. (There could be some, but I don't know about them if there are.) I can't see what makes Mr. Bundy any different from any other rancher in the West, except they're willing to live up to their obligations, whereas he apparently isn't.

The BLM is doing its job by issuing the grazing leases and collecting the rents. If they have a tenant that is grazing cattle without paying the allotment fee, then that tenant (Mr. Bundy) is stealing from you, me, Paladin2, and everybody else who's a taxpayer. Quibble with their methods if you must, but they are doing the job the taxpayer hired them to do.

The BLM is out to end the Open Range concept and to end the (private) economic use of Public Lands.

They apparently Hate that some of "their" lands are encumbered by this whole allotment kr@p...

Bundy is right that his fees are being used by "his" gov't to put him out of business.

He's going to die off soon enough, why should the gov't actively work to kill the old way of life before its time is actually over? Sound progressively forward leaning.

Well, one now has to know that the Odumbo administration is cowardly on all fronts, domestically and internationally, when pushed into the limelight.

“I can’t see what makes Mr. Bundy any different from any other rancher in the West”

He’s not any different. Your boys at the BLM just haven’t gotten around to the rest of them yet.

Although the BLM is doing the same thing to the Diamond Bar ranch in NM as we speak but I’ll bet you already know that. :-) wink wink.

Thanks for the tip off:

"When the U.S. Forest Service was created in 1905, one of its first concerns was to find a way to settle disputes among ranchers whose water rights resulted in conflicts over grazing areas. The Forest Service stepped into these territorial conflicts and proposed a way to resolve the disputes.

The rancher parties to the dispute voluntarily agreed to allow the Forest Service to measure the available water to which each participant had legal rights and designate the appropriate forage land required to make beneficial use of the available water. The designated area was called an “allotment.”

The ranchers paid the Forest Service a fee for their adjudication service, a portion of which went into a fund from which the ranchers could make improvements to the range and water access. The Forest Service issued a permit, which designated the forage area and the number of cow/calf units, or AUMs, that could graze the allotment.

Laney’s ancestors participated in this type of Forest Service adjudication process in 1907, three years before New Mexico became a state. The system worked well until 1934, when Congress enacted the Taylor Grazing Act. This law changed the status of the grazing permit from a voluntary process agreed to by the ranchers, into a “license” required by the federal government.

Few ranchers realized this law eventually would strip them of their rights and the land they had worked for generations."

I'm not familiar with the situation you cite in NM, but if there's another rancher grazing his cattle on federal lands without paying his allotment fees, then I would expect the BLM to deal with the matter.

Which in no way diminishes the accuracy of our original appraisal of Cliven Bundy, who can be most charitably characterized as a selfish skinflint bent on ripping off the taxpayer for at least the last 20 years. I never had much use for people who steal from the public at large, and I see no reason to change my position now.

You are apparently a Troll Statist unencumbered by the totality of the facts and their history and the American philosophical bent.

As with Mr. taxcontrol, esq., you need to get out to the top of Gold Butte and widen your horizons wrt where your gov't is heading.

WOW!

Tonight, Fox's Judge Jeanine Pirro was a one-woman assault weapon against the BLM, Obama and his brown-shirt administration.

Most of her show she and her guests relentlessly and fearlessly described the desert showdown for what it was...an unmitigated government fascist grab for power.

No weasel words, fence-riding and excuses for Obama by Her Honor (such as we're regularly subjected to on the Factor).

Good work, good research, good analysis, great guts....and for this we thank you, Judge Pirro.

No, I’m a guy who has an unshakable belief in the sanctity of property rights...even when that property is owned by the government.

Yes there are a few people who are ignorant of the fact that first of all the so called rules and regulations for public land do not originate in our duly elected Congress. All these rules and regs are put into place by mid level bureacrats. They rule at will.

Everytime I see some boob on these threads talking about how Mr. Bundy is a deadbeat trying to cheat the govt out of the range fees I wonder if it ever gets to their brain that he’s the guy putting steak on their table.

The Progressive agenda is to get rid of all the small ranchers as well as the organic farmers and dairy farmers. They will continue to write ridiculous rules and regs to hound these people out of business.

IMO the only way to stop it is to shut down 5-6 govt agencies altogether. That way the progressive civil servants are laid off and gone. Otherwise president’s come and go but the progressives that have inundated the bureacracy keep spinning their web.

This scenario that played out today is just one of many that will have to happen. It is likely to be one of the more civil that we will see.

Think about that picture for a moment.

If the BLM Goons open fire they are surrounded on three sides by everything from pistols to sniper rifles. And the only egress is deeper into the desert, in a wash, where the horses and four-wheelers are going to run them down.

And a hundred cameras, or more, filming every moment.
