Herman Cain without the sense humor.

Why is it that conservatives persist in their quadrennial quest for a black presidential nominee? Colin Powell-how has that worked out for us? Herman Cain-how did that work out? Condoleezza Rice-conservative three days a week and liberal four days a week.

Dr. Ben Carson is an estimable man with a stellar resume and, concededly, the right set of values but he has no electoral experience whatsoever and no demonstrated ability to get votes. At best he might be running for vice president but attention and money should not be diverted to his campaign when we have people like Ted Cruz in the wings.

If we have to have an African-American to parade before the cameras to demonstrate, evidently to ourselves alone, that we are not bigots we have Alan West who is a man of accomplishment and demonstrated character at least the equal of Dr. Carson, and a man who can be relied upon for the hard choices.

Alan West’s defense of his NDAA vote is loathsome to Our US Republic, in no uncertain terms.

I have read that Carson’s a “moderate” on the Second Amendment. In my book, you either support the Second Amendment or you don’t. That right there is non-negotiable.

Allen West voted for the Pigford reparations scam-he explains it as not having done his “due diligence” on the matter before voting. I consider not doing one’s due diligence before voting to pass out billions of taxpayer dollars to people who never even grew a tomato in a pot, as “farmers”, just because they’re black, a serious lack of judgement, at the least. That’s like Pelosi saying they had to pass CommieCare to see what’s in it.

When will the right really internalise the message of principle and just stop playing the left’s game of “tag” according to “diversity”?

Ben Carson is not Collin Powell nor Herman Cain nor Condi Rice. No more than I am Joe Biden because I'm the same color. I see the individual. He is Ben Carson. I see him based on the principles he articulates. His color is irrelevant to me.

Carson is smart and interesting, but I would never vote for him be cause of his position on the 2Nd Amendment.

I would vote for Allan West without any hesitation.

My preference would be Ted Cruz.

I doubt that many conservatives were in favor of Colin Powell. Condie undoubtedly had some support from conservatives, but it was not overwhelming.

I was a Cain supporter because conservative principles appeared to comprise his core beliefs and he exuded self-assurance. I knew he would not get the nomination because he didn't pay his dues by running for, winning, and successfully carrying out the duties of lesser offices. However, I certainly didn't expect him to be blown away by the first breeze.

Ben Carson is drawing conservative support not because of his race, but because he appears, like Cain did, to be the real thing, as opposed to phony-balonies like Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. But again, you need to pay your dues, and the presidency should not be the first office that you seek.
