The United States of SWAT?
National Review ^ | April 18, 2014 | John Fund

Military-style units from government agencies are wreaking havoc on non-violent citizens.

Regardless of how people feel about Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s standoff with the federal Bureau of Land Management over his cattle’s grazing rights, a lot of Americans were surprised to see TV images of an armed-to-the-teeth paramilitary wing of the BLM deployed around Bundy’s ranch.

They shouldn’t have been. Dozens of federal agencies now have Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams to further an expanding definition of their missions. It’s not controversial that the Secret Service and the Bureau of Prisons have them. But what about the Department of Agriculture, the Railroad Retirement Board, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Office of Personnel Management, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service? All of these have their own SWAT units and are part of a worrying trend towards the militarization of federal agencies — not to mention local police forces.

The average American is far more likely to be terrorized by militarized SWAT troopers than by Muslim terrorists.

Thanks for the concern, but who said anything about 'comfort' ?

Having a rough idea of the enemy's strength is hardly complacency, FRiend.

This is the beginning of the brown shirt which will develop into America's first gestapo. King Obama and the communists Democrats have destroyed America and we will develop into a dictatorship if not stopped now. Do not depend on the GOP since most of the party are incompetent fools.

That fat sack of crap in the bottom picture is one of the jack booted thugs who shot the innocent West Point grad and former Army officer as he exited Costco in Las Vegas.

I must admit, I don’t recall that cheering you mention. Not from anyone. Maybe I just got lucky on that maybe?

No, they decided not to look at the proper enemy due to political correctness and turned on the general population instead.

I hate these Snoopy Snipers more than anything I have ever hated. Ten times my hatred for Bin Laden’s butt buddies.

Hitler called it ‘Secret Service’

The "SS" in the name of the Nazi group stood for Schutzstaffel which translates into English as protection squadron or protection corps, not secret service.

It’s best to get the facts rather than believing what the news media says. Erik Scott was so high on medication that he was behaving irrationally, ripping open boxes in the store and alarming the employees, also displaying one of his two concealed weapons. When he left the store and the officer told him to get on the ground, he pulled out one of the weapons and pointed it at the officer in front of multiple witnesses. Yeah, he got shot, and he deserved it. And anyone who whines about it doesn’t know anything about the case.
