The language in the article posted is too soft. It’s not an end run, it’s not a circumvention, it’s flat out breach and the GOP better start working on prior restraint, and Congress ought to warn the states that the election will be decertified in an event such an attempt happens.

My guess is they want to get this in place before Obama’s final term ends so that when the Constitutional Crises manifests itself he’ll take action on the side he supports. We know what side that will be.

It’s going to make a great debate question during the election cycle, just start putting the questions to candidates. Will you or will you not support such a breach?

After that, there is nothing to stop the offended states from seceding, except military action. I.E another Civil War.

What the article doesn't highlight is that every state that has currently approved this silly idea is a "deep blue" state ... which means they would have been voting for Democrats anyway.

The end result of this idiocy is that a state like California could have 60% of its voters elect a Democrat, yet the state's Electoral Votes would be cast for a Republican.

Let them see how that works for them.

Congress can't decertify electoral votes. Once the governor signs the certification and sends it to the Archivist of the U.S., that's it.

States have near plenary power to appoint presidential electors as they see fit.
