A CNN article on the hash bash pointed out that it was not just young people but senior citizens too.

45 years ago today’s senior citizens were dope smoking hippies. DUH.

The whole point of the article is that you cannot sit around and drink in public, or even be drunk in public...but on the other hand, it’s just fine for the dopers to take over a public space and shut down the whole area while they get stoned in public. Not to mention the second hand smoke, the intoxicated minors and the general nuisance value of the whole thing, which would land you in jail if it were alcohol. Heck, in New York, they stop and frisk people before the St Pat’s parade to make sure they’re not bringing any kind or amount of alcohol

You should ask yourself why the government is so eager to promote pot.

In case you’re wondering, it’s because it makes people dumb and easy to control. The government’s dearest hope.

Only certain areas and only large bags. I assure you that 99% of parade goers here are not frisked. I've seen teenagers (under 18) openly drunk at every St Pat's parade I've been to and I used to be one of those teenagers.

People drink in public for many events all across the country. It's illegal in most places but enforcement becomes selective for special events.

It is illegal to smoke pot in public in CO but enforcement becomes selective and rare for events. Just like for drinking events.

If they ban both types of events I agree 100% but banning one is hypocritical and corrupt.

“You should ask yourself why the government is so eager to promote pot.”

How do they promote pot? Even growing one pot plant or having more than a single zip-lock of dry plant is a federal felony. In legal states, it is taxed far more than 100%. If they wanted to promote it, they’d make it completely legal and tax free.

Under the Obama regime, which benefits from making people dumb, pot raids in legal states have increased!

The “easy to control” drugs you are thinking of are the legal psychoactive Rx drugs that turn people who are upset about our world into zombies (SSRIs, benzos and hynotics). There are TV commercials for these designer drugs 24/7 and they are prescribed to our CHILDREN like candy!

Pot prohibition is all about money for entrenched interests and being able to easily arrest those who disagree with the regime. That’s 100% of it.

I would agree with your observations of users vs. non users. I have also observed that even after quitting the behavior you observed continues. Long lasting personality changes after quitting includes aloof behavior and trouble in relationships. However, I did not comment on the social consequences only the economic consequences. Will the people who predicted the drug trade would decline with pot legalization recant this prediction? I have confident that true libertarian economist will reconsider their model. However, I have no confident that liberals who just wanted to smoke pot will recant on their claims that pot is less harmful that alcohol, thus why I do not engage with liberals.

I know I'm going to catch flack for this but I bet the overall condition of the state will deteriorate..

I too wonder what the new Colorado will be like. It might just stumble along quite well with trust fund babies and those who live off that social scene, with all of the taxes they pay for legal pot. What I wonder is how it's all going to come down when (not if) some kind of natural or man-made crisis happens, and much of the population doesn't cope all that well.

Not to mention that all who imbibe of MJ are also unable to buy or carry a firearm in Colorado.

People will go to great lengths to justify their behavior digging up any facts, news articles, or other media sources that will support their position while denying any other soirces that detract from their argument. The truth doesn’t really matter to them. Its whatever “reality” they want to believe. I’m fine with that as long as the negative effects of their world don’t collide with or crossover into mine where I have to pay for their stupidity...: )

They promote it with the wink wink nudge nudge system. Everybody knows Bammy is a choomer who thinks there’s nothing cooler than a white boy loser who stays stoned in his mom’s basement all the time. Think Pajama Boy, the ultimate never grow up gay stoner.

That’s being projected as the cool image, and the fact that these people were permitted to hang out and use a theoretically illegal drug - believe me, a group of bikers would not have been permitted to hang out and drink legal beer in public - shows you that it has the full approval of the government.

Btw, the government wants it for money purposes as well as control. Colorado is already boasting about how much money they’ve made on the sales, and once they’ve got it totally regulated and legalized, the Feds hope to make a bundle. Unless you thought they were going to give it to you tax free because they love you...

“That’s being projected as the cool image.”

Nobody thought those images of O toking like a little girl were “cool”. Even the ones that smoke already. At most, he convinced some people that he would relax federal pot laws and make it a state issue. Pajama boy had nothing to do with pot, was a 100% flop and laughed at by everyone. The federal crackdown has INCREASED since the O regime. If they were pro pot, it would have decreased. They shut down some of the largest dispensaries in CA.

“a group of bikers would not have been permitted to hang out and drink legal beer in public”

If it’s just a small group, no. But drinking in public is a common thing at biker festivals. Some biker festivals have special drinking zones/outdoor bars but it is still drinking and getting drunk in public view. Being drunk while riding is prosecuted but you won’t get a ticket for drinking unless you cause trouble.

Again, I’ve been to many events where drinking in public is allowed. Including biker fests.

“Btw, the government wants it for money purposes as well as control.”

Of course, that is the most important criteria for EVERYTHING the government does. However, the feds and their special interests obviously calculated they can get more money by keeping it illegal. Some state governments and their interests see the opposite.

As far as using it as a form of population calming and mind control, psychotropic Rx pills are FAR better at that. MANDATORY DESIGNER DRUGS ARE BEING PRESCRIBED TO CHILDREN AND WE ARE ALL PAYING FOR THEM! Even METH can be legally prescribed to kids that have a high tolerance to other stimulants. The kids become addicted to these pills for life!

In just one generation, they have created a country in which decent people would not care to live. And they celebrate the accomplishment non-stop.

In only forty years; CHOICE has eliminated 55 million Americans.

I lived in that place on Clarkson in 1980. I just checked out the street view of 1234 Clarkson, nice building. My building wasn’t quite so nice and was dated when I lived there, but the rent was cheap and that’s just what I needed to get my start in Denver. After I met my wife, we ended up moving to Aurora.

No, I was pretty boring! Dated a few nice airmen from Lowry, tho. Moved shortly thereafter to LA, married a former airman, ironically - still married, raised 2 great kids.

I met and married my wife in Denver. I met her when working at the hospital. I was in security and had to make the rounds of the floors and she was a unit secretary and I made sure her unit got extra protection! :-) We've been married for 31 years and have 3 great kids. Ironically, our youngest and his wife are living in Castle Rock. They're teachers at a brand new charter school and this is their first job after graduating from college and getting married in 2013.
