ALEX Salmond is on the brink of securing a historic victory in the referendum, according to an exclusive poll suggesting Yes Scotland needs a swing of just over 2 per cent to win independence.

A landmark ICM survey for today’s Scotland on Sunday reveals a decline in the No vote from 46 per cent to 42 per cent over the past month. Over the same period, the Yes vote has remained steady at 39 per cent, resulting in a significant tightening of the gap between the two sides.

When the 19 per cent “don’t knows” are excluded from the equation, the No vote stands at 52 per cent, with 48 per cent in favour of Scotland going it alone. This is the highest level of Yes support to be recorded by an independently commissioned opinion poll.

If Scotland becomes an independent country will we have to worry about them starting a nuclear weapons program?

There is no reason why Scotland could not become as independent and as prosperous as Norway. However, the real question is will they also allow the huge .... and fatal ... increase in the Muslim population, as has Norway (and the other Scandinavians) and open their borders to become like England?

Scotland independent? OK. But what's it going to look like?

When the 19 per cent “don’t knows” are excluded from the equation...

Except that polling history tells us that the undecideds tend to vote status quo.

Scotland is where the labor party gets its majority. It will be laborite socialist stronghold. But then the rest of Britain could very well have a majority Tory country. At least until immigrgtion demographics kick in.

This has all the feel of a Soviet election. One-man, one-vote, one time in a highly propagandistic campaign.

A “yes” means no going back, ever.

Scottish independence campaign is gaining ground, polls show
Scottish first minister Alex Salmond said: "These are very encouraging polls and show the yes campaign has the momentum because it is more positive and more trusted than the no campaign.

"In contrast the no campaign is in a panic because they are seen as negative and unbelievable.

On the other hand, we hear this every time Quebec votes for secession from Canada, and it never happens.

If you are correct, then losing Scotland just may save England.

Cut the pound off from these ingrates immediately.

70% of Scots get their household income from the state either through employment or benefits and tax to pay them comes mostly from the populous southeast of England.

Let Glasgow and Edinburgh try to keep each other afloat with a stream of IOUs.

Darling under pressure over poll predictions
"He's a middlingly competent accountant with zero charisma. You never see him. Where is the big figure to lead the campaign and take the fight to Salmond? It's just dismal."

If Scotland becomes an independent country they will fall somewhere between Cuba and Venezuela on the world political ideology scale.

A huge majority of Welsh people do not want Scotland to vote for independence and think it would be bad for Wales, the results of an exclusive poll have revealed.

The results of the YouGov survey, which questioned more than 1,000 Welsh adults on how they would vote, found that 62% answered No when asked if Scotland should be independent, with just 16% saying Yes.

Working on the basis that a vote for something is a more committed vote than one against, I think this poll indicates that separation is imminent right?

As a Brit, this is sad, but as frequent visitor to Scotland I say good luck to them. With any luck they'll get their Socialism good'n'hard and come back to their senses.

What’s the point? They will join the EU anyways and raise taxes sky high to fund their social programs unless they think London is going to keep paying for it
