I grew up near you in a steeltown and NEVER saw anything like that in the 60’s!

I have heard that Pittsburgh was quite sooty in the day. My half-sister lived there in the 40s (long story), and said that she could barely see to walk to school every day in Oakland—she just had to look for the top of a certain tower to navigate.
