What would be the point of a nuclear attack on the people of the United States? Where would they get the taxes and business customers they rely on? Also, wouldn’t it make vast swathes of North America uninhabitable for many years? And didn’t someone recently say that would cause a world-wide ice age?

2^nd, each of us knows there are weapons beyond comprehension. The world seeks large land masses for re-population and easing of their land mass usage. Weapons (nuclear weapons) are there to do the necessary job without massive fallout and making the ground uninhabitable for countless centuries, otherwise Las Vegas would not exist. Would our leaders do such a thing? Maybe if they were moslems they might? My thought are scary on this matter. I do not hold the solutions for keeping something of this nature from taking place. Will it happen as I've typed. Maybe not. After all we trust our leaders, don't we? /s
