I said at the very beginning, that while my knee-jerk is to defend this guy, why on Earth he doesn’t think he has to pay his own way like everyone else is beyond me. That is straight LibTard.

And putting aside the Fed’s overreach for a moment, this was not the battle to pick. This was not the guy to defend. So now what do we have? We are saddled with a deadbeat who they are going to scream “look at the Tea Party bigot” all the way through the Election.

If these were his lands and he paid like everyone else, I’d be right by this guy’s side. But hes a deadbeat and may, indeed, be a bigot.

Bigotry isn't his flaw. Arrogance is. Pride is the FIRST and FOREMOST of all the seven deadly sins.

I WON'T say that he is a moron too. I WON'T; I won't.

Yes, if this had been property he owned and the Feds or even local government wanted to use eminent domain to take his property...I would be a HUGE supporter. But that was not what happened here.

Bundy may well not be a racist as he appears to think illegal Mexicans should be able to ‘join us’ and that Mexicans have better families than white folks.

It could well be that Bundy is just not a great wordsmith. BUT holy cow, he sure enough knows how to lose support quickly. And he just keeps digging the hole. Mercy.

actually you’re saying exactly was I was thinking
a bad battle to choose even though my gut reaction was to back the dude
the focus should have been on Harry Reid not on this dude
apparently ranchers have been grazing on fed lands without too much incident until Reid has his pet project.

Sounds like the Left's Racism dog whistle is sounding shrilly inside your head.

You should ask yourself what other malware the Left downloaded to your head...

Oh grow up. “They” are/were going to scream “Tea Party bigot” regardless.

He’s not a deadbeat. You need to educate yourself and stop your knee-jerk beliefs in what a-hole libs say.

Me too. It's kind of like the Branch Dividians. Much as I hate what the Feds did, I wasn't about to embrace David Koresh and his crazy cult as some kind of heroes. And no, I'm not justifying the Feds murdering children, intentional or not. Much as I sympathize and hate the Fed bullies, the nutters get all the attention. Meanwhile lots of other people are screwed over by the governments at all levels, but don't get any attention.

The man said something stupid ignorant and probably repugnant.

But race is such a tripwire in this society everyone has to run around like their hair is on fire.

To my knowledge this has nothing to do with the land dispute.

When are we ever going to be sophisticated enough to realize people have all kinds of sides to them and they are not pure heroes or pure villains. Answer - never.

Many of us have said that, if the revolution starts here, we’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with Cliven Bundy, but if we could choose a poster child for the cause, it would not be Cliven Bundy.

The grazing fees he paid for years and then quit paying were subsidized by the American taxpayer.

The guy says, and claims in his legal documents, that he’s not a citizen of the United States and that the United States ‘territory’ has no jurisdiction over him. He made other legal arguments that the majority of his supporters would not support.

The paramilitary response of the BLM was outrageous, and that’s kept people from focusing on Bundy and even what led to the confrontation between Bundy supporters and the BLM in the ‘tased’ video.

All things considered, I’m more offended by the BLM’s paramilitary response, but I’m no fan of Cliven Bundy.

Ah - the first FR poster who noted that Bundy claimed he was not a citizen of the United States was immediately met by a post that said, simply, “Go to hell!”

Why pay a fee if the land never was turned over to the State when Nevada became officially a State. Federal Government took ownership so they could tax and control without the sale of the land by the State. The Feds have done this throughout the Southwest. They stole 83% of Nevada's land.

If these were his lands and he paid like everyone else

The outline of this case is that the Feds have no right to 70 percent of Nevada or the other Western states. They swindled the West in ways the earlier states never had to endure.

But that's really a detail. If Bundy and his ancestors have been grazing cattle there for 150 years—most of that time "openly, notoriously, and without objection," as laws in most states have it—he's acquired an easement to keep doing it by right, about 10 times over. And since 150 years takes us to before Nevada was even a state, the Feds should be paying him, if they want to watch their turtles there, or whatever.

Oh, go wash it off. Then determine the facts for yourself, don't listen to talking heads trying to sell you toilet paper. Then try to see the big picture, not some vignette that slants the story.

I’ve attacked Bundy’s legal arguments from the start. However, the overreach by the BLM & USFS, and their rejection of public law by rejecting multiple use and replacing it with preservation, remains the same no matter what.

When I talk to people about this situation, I try to turn it into a conversation about government overreach, and the arbitrary abuse of power that allowed Hage to get a partial win in court. I ask them why a land management agency needs a SWAT team. I ask them why the feds go after cattle, but ignore illegal immigrants. I ask them if they think MEXICAN CATTLE would have been pursued for being on federal land.

I bring up Tombstone AZ and its fight to repair waterlines that existed for 100 years before the land was called a wilderness area. I bring up our local county and how its SWAT team fired 70+ bullets at a guy, hitting him about 20 and spraying bullets into neighboring homes, all to serve a search warrant that turned up a ball cap.

This is not about what a fine fellow Bundy is. It is about what an abusive government our alphabet agencies have turned into, and how their actions sometimes succeed in ‘shocking the conscience of the Court’...
