Mia Love is a black, Mormon woman, and will face a white, Mormon male. So I guess you’re calling it for Owens right now? Please come back in November on election night to see how you did.

Funny, Love faced white, Mormon males in the state convention in both 2012 and 2014, and won over 60% of the vote each time, in each case deep behind the wall of Zion. And in the 2012 general election, 49% of voters cast their votes for the black, Mormon woman over the white, Mormon male, and Love came within 0.3% of defeating the 6-term incumbent with the magical name. So perhaps your formula is correct for some Mormon voters, but clearly not most.

I think you may be on to something, for NOBODY wants to be even HINTED at being a racist, even in UTAH - not THESE days!!

If you’re a white guy, and your Black/Mexican mistress is also boinking some black guys on the side; you’d BETTER not complain about it in graphic terms!

But the news is not ALL bad; as you can still bad mouth MUSLIMs with impunity.

The idiocy on this thread is breathtaking. This thread should be nothing but positive posts celebrating our near certain pickup of this House seat and the election of the first Black Republican woman to Congress, something that will really get the democrat’s goat. Instead it’s turned into “lets bash Mormons in the most idiotic way possible”.

You’d think that Mormons must be liberal scum instead of some of the most socially and politically conservative people in the country the way some people are going after them. Some rich and powerful Mormons are liberals you say? Guess what, some rich and powerful (insert EVERY religious group you can think of) are liberals. Utah is the most Republican state in the country and almost EVERY politician from BOTH parties in that state is a Mormon.

But Matheson won a few elections, usually narrowly and I think every single time against a Mormon Republican, and Harry Reid won a few elections, in a different state, therefore Mormons are pernicious? What?

And the posts saying Love, a Mormon, will lose to a guy with no money, when she almost beat an entrenched incumbent 2 years ago, because it’s a “Mormon district”. I can’t even respond to that insane non-logic other than to say 2 + 2 does not equal 5 and this is not Candyland.

I’m sure I’ll be flamed now by some fool who will tell me “You don’t understand Mormons” or make fun of me for implying that perhaps they are blinded by bigotry.

Perhaps I don’t understand the religious debate. I’m not trying to because it doesn’t interest me in the slightest. Do I find Mormon beliefs rather weird? Yes. But are Mormons crashing planes into buildings? No? Do I think they are a cult dedicated to electing Harry Reid and Jim Matheson? NO, I think that’s silly. So do I care that their beliefs are weird? No.

One thing I do understand fairly well is electoral politics, these people clearly don’t.
