Congress banned tolls on Interstates in 1956 when it created the national highway system under President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The administration said lifting the toll ban would help address a shortfall in funding to pay for highway repairs. The tolls, along with other changes, could provide an

Of course, its about paying for Obamacare.

Its a lie the Administration wants to help pay for interstate roads maintenance.

This Administration is addicted to new taxes up the wazoo.

A massive step to micro managing and monitoring our travel. Tolls have a huge effect on reducing casual traveling.

Of course, they could not expect the “poor” people to pay for their own tolls, so a program would have to be established for them to get cards with free toll money on them, paid for by the taxpayers.

Ya mean those “shovel ready” projects you put forth as a stimulus plan and then baselined so it’s spent every year, slimmed but not eliminated by the sequester?

It goes further than that because we pay for goods and services that travel on those roads and pay those taxes as part of the cost.

Any way they can take more money from us. Studies have shown that most of the money collected from tolls goes to payroll for the toll road administration. In other words it is a jobs program for jobs that don’t really need to be done.

12-times as expensive roundabouts

It is not just the cost of roundabouts that are beneficial to the left (the road builders send a good chunk of that money back to the Dims). Other advantages are:

1) It takes more land out of private hands (every little bit helps)
2) It frustrates drivers into (hopefully in their eyes) getting on to public transportation instead of private vehicles.
3) It gives DOT personnel a feeling of power because they can force these on the people who pay their salaries.

If states and our federal government spent less on benefits/tax breaks for welfare that ensnares the poor in dead end, non working lives and less on tax breaks for industries that are not economical without gov’t help [solar, wind, electric cars], plus lifted regulations which throttle businesses [EPA, OSHA, minimum wage, Dodd/Frank, etc.], there would be more tax revenue available for roads & infrastructure.

No, any revenue from turning these roads which we already pay to maintain will be diverted to whatever waste of money is consuming the money which should be used to maintain the interstates now.
