The problem is that between mandated improvements in mileage, and incentives to buy extremely fuel-efficient cars (I just got an electric car - no gas tax!), the next obvious step is to tax per mile regardless of what you’re driving. They’ll just note the odometer during every annual inspection and bill you accordingly.
That they glean even more info about you is just a bonus.

Cars will use the same tracking that big rigs NOW USE - they not only will know exactly how many miles you drive each day - but WHERE -
and they will have your location, at all times, to the square foot.
They will also know if you break the speed limit somewhere AND if you make a 'hard brake' incident - which will impact your insurance and make it easier for yanking your license altogether. The goal - if you know anything about Agenda 21, is to curtail movement of 'the citizenry'.
And THAT is the purpose.
Wake up, people. Stop just looking at what they SAY - look behind the curtain.
