Exactly what does this ‘bank’ do?

Does it lend money out to businesses?

Can you take a mortgage or any other loan from it?

Is it an investment bank?

Can you deposit money in it to get interest?

The Vatican Bank's official name is Istituto per le Opere di Religione. Here's a link to the website.

It essentially handles money for the Catholic Church and its employees. How that is done is the question.
