Obama: Time running short for House on immigration reform

President Obama on Tuesday said the House has a “very narrow window” of two or three months to move forward on immigration reform.

“The closer we get to midterm elections, the harder it will be to get things done,” Obama said during a meeting with more than 40 law enforcement officials Tuesday at the White House.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, who is undertaking an internal review of how the White House might alter deportation procedures unilaterally, was among the administration officials attending the meting.

The president tailored his remarks to the audience, arguing that having to focus on immigration enforcement was stopping police from “chasing gang bangers and going after violent criminals.”

“Our broken immigration system makes it harder for our law enforcement agencies to do their job,” Obama said.

It was the latest in a series of meetings between Obama and stakeholder groups as the White House tries to whip up support for immigration reform.

What’s the rush Barry? Are you afraid the invaders will go home? I don’t think so. You’ve got all the time in the world to destroy America. Knock off your “I want it now!” crap.

Or what?

He starts ignoring the law? Or making up his own ‘laws’?

He’s ALREADY doing both, so what’s the difference?

Yeah, he needs them legal before the 2014 mid term elections. If the GOP does this, they are toast.

The president tailored his remarks to the audience, arguing that having to focus on immigration enforcement was stopping police from "chasing gang bangers and going after violent criminals."
A few points here. The groups of illegal aliens and gangbangers are not mutually exclusive.

Local cops are tasked with chasing gang-bangers and violent criminals, and according to federal courts, have no business enforcing immigration; so there is no "competition" between those two duties.

Federal law enforcement, in particular immigration enforcement other than border enforcement, is deliberately slacking under orders. IOW, the feds aren't focusing on immigration enforcement, either.

Not that the public knows any of this, and not that the press will call him out on his stupid argument and failure to uphold the law.

Looking forward to “time’s up”. Can’t happen soon enough.

Why on earth does this issue have “time” affiliated with it, anyway?

Is Mexico going away? Will we run out of border? Is there some special transgendered status they will no longer be able to change to? Are we running out of drivers licenses? What about domestically made tacos? Are they going out of print?

Obama is not trustworthy. Passing laws with him in power is foolish.

Why doesn’t Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, just do the job he is hired to do ? He is putting into the system his own personal beliefs about how he thinks the laws must be and he is not going by what the laws actually say and how he is required to follow these laws passed by Congress. He wants to make up or alter the laws to suit him and his goal of this is really what the laws should be
