Pelosi on Illegals: 'We Cannot Prohibit a Path to Citizenship'

(CNSNews.com) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said today that the United States, as a country, "cannot prohibit a pathway to citizenship" for illegal aliens.

“As a country, we cannot, let me say, we cannot prohibit a path to citizenship,” Pelosi said Tuesday at the Peter G. Peterson Foundation annual economic summit in Washington, D.C.

“I don’t think we as a country want to be a country that says, ‘You can do our work, but you can’t have the rights of a citizen in our country,’” said Pelosi. “It’s more about who we are as a nation.”

Pelosi joined other politicians, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sens. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) to discuss the economy and other topics, including immigration reform.

Nancy Cordes, a congressional correspondent with CBS, asked Pelosi if she would be open to the House Republicans introducing legislation that would put pieces of immigration reform up for consideration that might not include a “pathway to citizenship.”

“It has to be comprehensive immigration reform,” Pelosi said. “Now, the Senate bill is not a bill that I embrace lovingly.

“However, it’s bipartisan. It passed the Senate. It’s something that could be signed into law immediately, and I’ve urged the speaker to take up that bill,” Pelosi said, referring to S. 744, the Border Security and Immigration Modernization Act, which cleared that body in June 2013.

Pelosi said House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and other Republicans might present an alternative to the Senate bill before this session ends, but it would have to include a pathway to citizenship to gain her support.

“But to your direct point about citizenship; the Senate Bill is effectively a legalization bill with a path to citizenship. It’s long, arduous and takes a good deal of time,” Pelosi said.

“What I’d like to see is a bill that does something similar to that,” Pelosi said. “I don’t think we as a country want to be a country that says, ‘You can do our work, but you can’t have the rights of a citizen in our country.’

“It’s more about who we are as a nation,” Pelosi said, adding that illegal aliens want to be “relieved of deportation.”

“As a country, we cannot, let me say, we cannot prohibit a path to citizenship,” she said.

Pelosi said, adding that illegal aliens want to be “relieved of deportation.”

Sure they do Nan and prison inmates want to be relieved of their sentences also.

Prohibit the path to citizenship for illegal aliens and open it to legal immigrants.

We already have a path to citizenship. It’s called LEGAL immigration. Unfortunately, Pelosi and her fellow travelers are not really interested in LEGAL immigration (or legal anything else, for the most part).

““As a country, we cannot, let me say, we cannot prohibit a path to citizenship,” she said.”

That should have opened with “As a Party” because without the Illegal vote, Dems will not continue to be able to steal elections.

Pelosi is telling the truth about Cantor's amnesty bill. Cantor would not deny they eventually get citizenship.

I would not prohibit, either, but they must get in line and go through the same hoops and process as people from other lands.

Why do we consider Pelosi a citizen?

She clearly has no loyalty to the United States

Read my lips, Nancy-baby...I am just amazed that the reflection in her mirror just doesn’t throw up all over her when their eyes meet.

Tell you what, if the Dems controlled the house, the internment of over 50(age), Conservatives would be going full steam.

I don’t want them to do my work.

I want to do the work myself or pay Americans to do the work.

No one objects to LEGAL immigration. My mother came here in 1956 LEGALLY!
What would lead me to believe that those who broke the law would straighten up and obey ‘new’ laws? I cannot logically conclude they would.

The only goddamned immigration problem we have is that no one in the GOP in DC has the nerve to enforce current laws designed to make the crooks self deport.

The pro illegal alien crowd is nothing more than a bunch of communist fronts allied with big business designed to screw the middle class from both sides.

Hell no, time to fight the communists and the blue bloods in the streets.

Degenerate little twerp Marco Rubio (who never held a real job in his life) and his minions in the RNC want to legalize 11 million criminal aliens and import another 20 million on top of that, further depressing the stagnant wages of the middle class that are being further eroded by higher taxes and the unprecedented grand theft of disposable income if you actually use your medical insurance to go to the Hospital.

All in the name of his ethnicity and his allegiance to the blue bloods and country clubbers who he sees as his ticket to more power.

Sociopaths like Rubio and that degenerate SCUMBAG REINCE PRIEBUS (who should have RESIGNED after losing to the communists) make me want to vomit.

Seek mental help RNC , or join the communist party USA, they have the same position on illegal immigration as you do.REPEAL Ted Kennedys Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965.

We need PATRIOTS in DC willing to fight the unholy alliance of communists and corporatism trying to boost immigration to further their interests.

Jeff Sessions makes common sense statements about immigration, and isn’t a liar like Rubio and Boehner and all of the rest of the country clubbers trying to sell us down the river

We don’t need new immigrants or to give amnesty in any form to the illegal ones already here.

There are millions of Americans out of work, anyone pushing immigration reform is an enemy of the common American citizen

Hmmmm ..?? I recall Rush Limbaugh predicting this already.

But, Rush thought it would be Chucky Schumer who would be whining on the Senate floor crying out the terrible result of amnesty .. the people still couldn’t vote.

ALL THE DEMS WANT IS VOTES .. THEY DON’T GIVE A SINGLE RIP FOR THE HISPANIC PEOPLE.

IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THAT .. YOU’RE NOT PAYING ATTENTION.
