Eyewitness accounts
Eyewitness Michael Shelley told KOIN 6 News on Sunday he saw Ford standing in front of a streetlight when she was shot. Shelley said he doesnt believe he saw her holding a gun.
I just watched. I was mesmerized, he said. He saw Ford standing across the street from his house after wrestling with a Salem police officer.
They asked me if I saw a weapon at all. I said, it couldnt have been on the right side. (That side was lit by the streetlight.) I couldnt see anything on the left side.

She also said investigators arent giving her much information.
I just want to know what happened. They wont tell me anything, she said.
To me, it doesnt seem right. I mean, how she was a threat to this officer.
Mark Sharp, who lives near the site of the shooting, said he saw Ford run across the street and wrestle with officers.
Thats when I hear a mans voice yelling stop, stop, stop, he told KOIN 6 News on Saturday.
I hear pop-pop-pop and Im, like, wait a minute. I saw him standing over her and smoke was rising up from the firearm, he said.

Crystal Ford also met with Sharp on Sunday when she dropped off some flowers at the spot where her daughter was shot.
Its very inhumane, she said. Theres no justification for that. I dont understand that at all.
Morrison, a 12-year veteran of the force, is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Neither he nor his K-9 partner, Baco, were hurt in the chase.
The Oregon State Police Major Crimes Division is leading the investigation.
Im confused.
“Slain Woman Shot by Salem Police in Head, Chest”
Is that like “Dead woman killed by death?”
Why would police shoot a slain woman?
Why’d they shoot a slain woman?
“Im confused.”
I’m glad to see it’s not just me
There was no slain dog to shoot. /s
This is almost unreadable. What part of the body is the Eastgate Park? I am not very good at Latin. Sounds like the cop might have accidentally dropped his backup gun.
I’m more interested in the events than the grammatical style. Why’d she get shot for just a traffic stop? Was she stopped on some felony warrant? If not, what traffic violation could merit deadly force?
“Investigators at the scene found a gun in the location Ford fell, authorities said.”
Yea, I bet they did. /s
Why would police shoot a slain woman?

Possibly they’ve watched too many episodes of The Walking Dead.
If you’ve ever been shot in the Eastgate Basin Park, it hurts like heck.
Ba-da-bum, Ba-da-bing!

I’m with you-—I don’t believe the “found gun” was the girl’s. Some cops keep an unregistered, cheap “saturday night special” concealed on them to plant at a crime scene. And that’s not only on television folks.
Thank you. I’ll be here all night. Be sure to tip your wait staff.
Why was the witness wrestling with a Salem police officer?
This article is such a mess, I really can't follow the story.
Why would they shoot a slain woman?
;-)
A good friend of my quit the Lancaster Texas police and lost a good career as a police office over their apparent history and habit of planting guns on people arrested for more minor violations.
“If not, what traffic violation could merit deadly force?”
Any violation requiring such action by a PolicePerson which might result in wasting the sacramental calories bestowed upon said PolicePerson in the Donut Sacrament is a felony and may result in shooting at the sole discretion of said PolicePerson.
Mock not the Donut Sacrament!
THAT'S the important part of the story.
