Rams defensive end Michael Sam is getting a reality show.
The Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that it is working with Sam on a reality TV project that will show his life as the first openly gay player in the NFL.
“We are honored that Michael is trusting us with his private journey in this moment that has not only made history but will shape it forever,” Oprah Winfrey said in a statement. “I am proud of the focus on authentic storytelling in our new documentary series format.”

Finally, having open gays in the NFL can only improve the quality of all their fruity celebration dances and chest pounding postures. If someone from the 50’s saw an NFL game of today, they would probably think it was mostly played by gays anyway.

One of the funniest stand-up comedy routines ever was by Bob Nelson at the 1984 Rodney Dangerfield Young Comedians Special on HBO. Nelson did his impression of “College Football All-Stars,” and one of the players spoke with a very effeminate voice and said that he was from the “University of San Francisco, tight end ... next year I hope to be a wide receiver ....” Absolutely hilarious (as were most of his other characters).
