Rams defensive end Michael Sam is getting a reality show.

The Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that it is working with Sam on a reality TV project that will show his life as the first openly gay player in the NFL.

“We are honored that Michael is trusting us with his private journey in this moment that has not only made history but will shape it forever,” Oprah Winfrey said in a statement. “I am proud of the focus on authentic storytelling in our new documentary series format.”

Rams screwed up drafting him. I’m sure every other player on the team wants cameras in their faces judging their every reaction to Sam. Way to go Jeff Fisher screwing up your team chemistry, not because the guy is gay but because he is an attention seeking drama queen.

Was it Fisher’s call?

Wow the comments on sports sites to this news is VERY BAD for Sam and the gay cause. Almost universally against Sam now. Once again the liberals overplay their hand. They claim to simply want acceptance and an equal chance and the very second they got it they shoved gaycake in everyone’s faces.

Fisher is very high up in the NFL power structure. He may have agreed to the PR move as a loyal NFL soldier but he better have a quick exit strategy.

In a way I can't blame Michael Sam. He figures he may be cut in training...or he just may not be able to cut it if he ends up playing in big league football. Many college players can't.

So why not mine the big bucks from Oprah while the mining is good? It's an insurance policy. Plus he may make as much or more money over the long run in the TV entertainment field and lucrative speaking engagements than he could in a couple of years of getting bashed and battered in pro ball.

The enticing lure of fast TV bucks lured Sarah Palin. I hope it's only for a while but I doubt it. Once bitten, forever hooked. Why should she get bashed and battered in the political ball fields when she can make big bucks on TV in relative psychological safety while still being an important political leader?

These people have to make big decisions....and I don't purport to say or know whether they're making the right ones or not. Only they know what's best for them.

All I know is that it would be nice to have their choices, LOL.

Just read that Oprah and Sam's agents didn't tell anyone in the NFL about the reality show until AFTER he was drafted. They were there filming when he got picked. I KNEW it was a setup I saw professional TV people all over that room and Sam was caught looking for the right camera a couple of times.

Nobody would have picked Sam or even signed him undrafted if they knew him, his agents, OWN, and the gay community was just using the NFL to get attention and a TV show.

Even the liberal Jason Whitlock says he would cut Sam right now. LOL at the libs once again having something blow up in their face. And for people that are sincerely for the gay cause you picked the worst possible guy to carry your message.

They did not tell the NFL about it? Doesn’t that violate some kind of NFL rule?

Also remember, the NFL has this thing called an “Anti-Trust Exemption” hanging over their heads.

Just perhaps the Obama Administration has reminded them of that from time-to-time, which my explains the NFL’s recent PC turns.

Don't compare this charlatan to Palin. Sam flat out lied when he said he simply wanted to play football. Him and his team suckered the NFL they were already filming a TV show and his agents were hired by Oprah and they hid all this from the NFL.

Sure he can make money and exploit whoever he wants, but you really can't judge someone who lies and uses people?

This guy isn’t playing a down on a real NFL game and he knows it. He didn’t even try to be in shape at the NFL combine he stunk it up.

Many (not all) of the NFL owners are Obama supporters.
The Steelers had an Obamacare rally with Sebelius in their stadium.

You and I called it, though I did get the network wrong.....

We will be “treated” to endless mini-stories on this loser all season. When he gets cut, there will be protests and intimidation campaigns. He will then go on to star in his own reality show. This pop-culture nation is so disgustingly ill right now.

I bet ESPN already has plans for a reality show documenting Sam in Training Camp.

Many (not all) of the NFL owners are Obama supporters

If they don't want to be tarred and feathered in the press and forced to sell, they pretty much have to support the left.

Yup and the NFL is winding up with egg on their faces too. I can tell you right now most "brothers" in the league would be ok with a gay guy who puts his team and the game first. Heck it's already happened many times no doubt. They will not tolerate a phony who is using their sport and running around with a little white twink on Oprah TV implying they are all homophobes.

Great job NFL falling for this BS in the name of PC. You didn't just alienate so called right-wingers you put off your entire fan base with this circus.
