Russian President Vladimir Putin has informed multiple European states that Moscow will not supply gas to Europe through Ukraine as of June 1 if Kiev does not pay its bills, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on Thursday.

Fico, speaking to reporters after meeting NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, said the most pressing threat facing Slovakia was the question of deliveries from Russia that pass through Ukraine.

"Today, multiple member states including Slovakia were informed by President Putin that as of June 1, if Ukraine does not pay for supplied gas, it will not be supplied to the European territory," Fico said.

"It is a serious threat to the energy security of Slovakia."

This is as much turning the screws on Euro support for Ukraine, as it is on Ukraine.

Gas can still flow via the North pipeline route, but cutting Ukraine off will grind its economy to a halt. Along with much of southern Europe.

Why do I have the feeling that Ukraine's multi-billion dollar gas bill is going to be paid by YOU AND I???

“cutting off the gas supply - who didn’t see this coming?”

But...
But...
The US Media told me that Putin would NEVER do this, because it would hurt him more than us.

After Tuesday, he won’t really care how much it costs, when the Oil/Gas deal with China is signed.

Basically, Russia is Iran with a Slavic accent lol.

Again, long-term Russia is cutting their own throat. The Europeans will develop other avenues in time and Russia will be subservient to China, who have mastered economic blackmail.

Really? A deal that will start producing revenue in 2017/18 is going to keep Pootie relaxed and allow him to cut off gas to his other customers?

I wonder how the Chinese would react to seeing Russia use it’s gas sales as a political weapon, they’re notorious for not being held over a barrel by anyone.
