If you know which particular hijacker it is, you can googlebing search by its name and more than likely find removal instructions.
If you are using a Firefox derivative (Firefox, SeaMonkey, Pale Moon and probably others) you can install the add-on "No Script". It pretty much keeps anything on a page from running unless you OK it. Unfortunately, then you need to know what things to OK and what not to. Which is why Mrs. NoC won't let me put it on her machine...
