I wholeheartedly agree. For most of my life I was an avid country music fan. Then Garth Brooks, almost single-handedly, killed country music.

Yes he did. I have even heard RAP on a country stations masquerading as country music. The starched cowboy hats, the mannequins doing karaoke on stage. The spray on tan with sparkly things <- those are the guys....

Let me second that opinion. But I also think that the audience for country music has changed: it's less rural, and more suburban, and has grown-up with rock music. Today, with rock more or less dead, country has stepped into rock's shoes, so to speak.
