My ancestors fought on the Union side, how much do blacks owe me for the blood and suffering of my family?

My ancestors fought on both sides. So I figure I have a zero balance owing.

Actually, one of my ancestors fought on both sides all by himself. Surrendered at Vicksburg, then joined the Union Army to get out of the prison camp and was sent out west to fight the Indians.

I had ancestors on both sides of the Civil War.
And my Cherokee ancestors didn’t do so well on the Trail of Tears.
PS
I put all that behind me a long time ago!
Like when I was about 5 or 6 and could half way understand it all....

My ancestors fought on the Union side ....

So'd mine, the ones who were here in 1862, except for one direct ancestor who was exempted from Lincoln's draft by his British citizenship, attested by a little blue card that our family still has somewhere.

The rest of my family arrived after the Civil War was over.

I think the Obama IRS will get back to us about what we owe.
