Not nearly as glad as Obama himself. The wreath laying ceremony is always televised live and Obama's presence would have reminded the entire country of his failures as Commander in Chief. By sneaking away to Afghanistan he will avoid all of that and we will get instead some very carefully staged clips of him hugging soldiers and looking sincere.
