This flag is NOT Obama’s flag...It is NOT the administration’s flag...It is NOT even the government’s flag...It is the flag of our republic nation...It is OUR flag...AMERICAN’S flag...
Don’t EVER give these socialist communists the satisfaction of believing you have given up by NOT flying our flag proudly...
I have a neighbor who still flies the South Vietnamese flag below and alongside the American flag...He still honors his former country also....THAT IS RESPECT....
America as we know it no longer stands for the land of the free, or the home of the brave, rather it's the land of the moocher and land of the moron voter. On a daily basis, our flag stands for what our country stands for.
Now I only fly the flag when it clearly stands for what our country used to stand for.
I don't regret it one bit.
I fought under that flag...I fought FOR that flag...I shed blood for that flag....
I’ll be DAMNED if I let some pissant administration cause me NOT to fly MY FLAG!!!!!!!!!!!!
I refuse to give these asses in Washington the satisfaction of seeing any kind of patriotic decay .......
But I'm an optimist.
I have posted several comments and staements on this thread from the beginning...I am very passionate about this topic...
I will fly my flag until I die.
I stand to attention at sporting events when they play our National Anthem and have called attention after the playing to younger people who were laughing, talking, looking all around during the playing...I know they look at me as some old fashioned grumpy old man, but I don’t give a whit...I ask that they show respect to OUR flag and OUR Anthem.
Again, this is NOT the administration’s flag, not the standing government’s flag...
IT IS OUR FLAG!!! AMERICAN’S FLAG...Don’t give it up, please.....
I refuse to allow these asses in Washington (and our neighborhood) the satisfaction of believing the flag WE fought for deserves to be flown for their ideas.
I don’t fly for their ideas...I fly that flag for the ideas it was orginated for, the ideas that I fought for, the ideas that I have for that glorious flag...
Thoses asses in Washington have absolutely nothing to do with why I fly my flag...
Lakeshark, you do what you feel is best in your mind...That is what we fought for...I will do what I feel is best for me...That is what is special about our country...
OK...I’ve had my say...I’ll now shut up...*LOL*
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
here the boy scouts are rapidly dying out. Parents are just not “renewing” and moving their children to other less dangerous (see sex predators) activities.
I put up the flag on Veterans Day and Memorial Day post 2008.
I actually had someone stop by and ask what the black banner I had on the flag was and why I was taking it off at noon. I momentarily felt offended but then politely explained why for both reasons. He did know that it was to be illuminated at night at least.
I noticed a couple of old black and white WWII movies about Pacific theater on Sunday evening I believe on AMC.
+1. My flag hasn’t flown right side up since 0 was selected.
As a retired military member, I try to follow flag etiquette to the letter. I didn't mention in my previous post that the local Boy Scouts have a program which allows residents to "rent" a flag with pole on every day it should be flown. They come by the day before, erect them and are picked up late in the day after said holiday.
Amen to that sir. I understand where you’re coming from.
The neighbors who know I changed, even the liberal ones, know why. The liberal neighbors know it's not a victory, some are uneasy with what's happening and don't understand their misgivings, the rotten ones (the totalitarian losers) couldn't care less and I'm proud to send them a message even they can understand.
I understand half mast. I agree with it when someone who is a patriot dies. But somehow, our country has gotten to the point where if two people are murdered somewhere, the flag has to go to half mast. I dislike this, because we are at a point where we are in a state of perpetual mourning (officially!) for this thing and that thing.
A state of perpetual victimhood. And I hate it. To me, my whole life, that isn't what this country is about. It was about something bigger than the individuals, and you couldn't be in mourning all the time, you had to tighten your belt and keep moving.
Now, we seem to want to bury ourselves in a miasma of sorrow all the time.
If I try to explain this to people, I am sure I come across as unfeeling and uncaring, so...I stopped trying to explain it. I feel the same way about distributing government money to victims of a terrorist attack such as 9/11. We should have never done it. But we did, and here we are. And if you say you think it is a bad thing, you are viewed as a bad person by some, so I just don't talk to anyone about it anymore.
I got to the point where I was irritated with the flag! Amazing. This flag that my father and I served under and he was buried under, has become a point of internal contention with me.
And THAT bothers me too. I cannot express how painful that is to me. Like everything else associated with this country I love, the flag brings me more angst and irritation to me than pride and joy. The same flag that our POWs in Vietnam risked their lives to say the Pledge of Allegiance to under the risk of severe beating or death, I don't raise it proudly in the light of the sun because of the actions of people like Barack Obama and the millions of people who voted for him.
Arghh. Of the things that liberals have done that really piss me off, that ranks high, that they have taken that from me.
You are right. I need to begin flying it again, to at least stand for what I think it should represent.
