He's a jerk. He'll do well enough for now. At least he isn't entrenched like the liberal Dewhurst.

I seriously doubt it tenmountainman. Last I heard Mitch was leading big in the polling. He has all those years of insider money as well as the GOPe money and influence. Sure would love to see him lose, but I’m afraid he won’t. Kytns are used to voting for him and they are people of set-habit.

The next step forward is getting rid of Cornyn.

You make me laugh if you think Patrick's win will change Cornyn's liberal votes supporting Reid.

You avoid my question about whether I must vote for a liberal pro-abortion, anti-gun republican if he wins the nomination.

No courage of conviction?

Mitch won his last general election by only 6%, against a much weaker Dem.

Polls showed him losing to Grimes earlier.

That was before he pissed off all the conservatives.

Patrick is a little flaky, overly ambitious, opportunistic, and not completely honest.

I think people just hope that he is improving, and not going to be an embarrassment in years to come.

They clearly want him over Dewhurst, but it isn’t like Patrick is another Cruz, or Palin, conservatives full of integrity, and commitment.

Dewhurst is down to 35.07% The trend is not his friend.

If he'll strip the senate chairmanships from the Dems (he says he will), he'll be doing a great thing. Too much conservative legislation has been killed by Dewhurst's machine.

I'm watching that with glee. I've worked 4 hard years to give the SOB the boot, and now he's going. Strauss is next. Then Cornyn.

It will be easier to get rid of Dan Patrick than if Dewhurst decided to be Lt Gov for life.

I don't think that you understand politicians. You probably think that they are as hard headed and uncompromising as you appear to be. They aren't anything like you. You couldn't be elected dog catcher in a dog free county. Politicians can turn on a dime and pretend that it was part of their plan all along. If Cornyn sees the tide turning against him, he'll act like the biggest Conservative who ever came down the pike. Even all of that liberal money that he is stuffing in his pockets wont' make a difference. Politicans brains work differently.

34.81% I wonder if he could beat him 2:1—probably not, but he just might be able to push him under 34.00

When Ted Cruz was running for U.S. Senate, Patrick had him on his radio show and treated him so poorly that Doworst made an ad out of it. The ad claimed that Cruz was out of control when 90% of the words spoken was Patrick yelling at Cruz.

There are other shady things and cases of Patrick not doing what he says, but for me... that interview was his fall from grace.

History says you are incorrect.

Cornyn will continue to support the liberal GOP-E. That's where his money comes from. He will not abandon his principles(free money).

I’m glad Do-worst is gone, but I’m not a fan of Patrick

Yeah, that's about where I'm at too. I believe Patrick will sell us out eventually. I just hope it's later rather than sooner. In any case, Dewhurst had to go. Patrick will have to walk the walk at least for a while. That's an improvement. We've GOT to get diminish Straus's influence.

I think we all agree, but the poster wanted to know why people were such strong, yet grudging supporters of Patrick.

Why would cornball change? His takeaway from this years primary is that he can fool the voters by voting the right way at the wrong time (when his vote doesn’t matter). How is the election results of some state wide office going to play into his behavior calculus when his next election (after the general election which he is not going to lose) is six years off?

“I still have not forgot how Patrick treated Cruz on the air... he has a big credibility gap to recover from as far as I’m concerned.”

I listened to the interview two years ago. Nothing to get flummoxed about!

BTW are you against all professing Christians? I have listed to Dan Patrick ever since he brought Rush Limbaugh to Houston 24 years ago.

Karl Rove does not want Tancredo, Dan Patrick or Tim Donnelly as statewide candidates whatever their flaws are as candidates either to the general or conservative voters.

If Patrick gets rid of the Dems in chairman positions in the Senate, he will have done more to move forward conservative legislation than any Texas politician in my memory.

It's telling that Dewhurst shared power by giving the Dems those chairmanships in the first place.

Committees are great places to kill legislation.

BLah!!!

Mess with Ted and you mess with me. WTF!

Seems like you all agree he is a step up from the incumbent, but man- bad moving making enemies with Mr. Cruz. That won’t win him very many friends.
