Sen. Rand Paul: With Utmost Respect, You're Wrong About This
American Thinker ^ | May 28, 2014 | By Lloyd Marcus

Perhaps it is due to me being a PK (preacher’s kid), with fond childhood memories of adoringly watching my dad preach well-prepared sermons at the Holy Temple Church of Truth storefront in a Baltimore ghetto. But the Bible remains my ultimate reference source for wisdom and leadership.

Moses, who led the Israelite people out of slavery, is an excellent example of what to do and what not to do as a leader. His decisions were rooted in obedience to God's instructions which, proved to be most beneficial to his flock. Moses ignored vehement critics and even the threat of being stoned to death. He did the right thing even when it did not jive with popular opinion. That is leadership, folks.

On one occasion, due to pressure from his people, Moses disobeyed God and took matters into his own hands. God's punishment was harsh. God told Moses he would not be permitted to bring his people into the Promised Land. Leaders do not surrender, making decisions which they know to be wrong to appease bullies, manipulators, and the ignorant.

A case in point is Senator Rand Paul. Sen. Paul is out there saying that the GOP should back away from requiring a photo ID to vote.

Common sense tells us that requiring a photo ID to vote is a reasonable, logical way to prevent voter fraud. Since a photo ID is required to complete a plethora of transactions, what is the big deal? Thus, it is absurd to call the photo ID requirement to vote racist.

I’m not talking about Rand Paul or any other politician. I’m talking about the Right and their focus. NOBODY is going to be everything everybody on the Right likes. So the Right has to prioritize what’s most important. The Right can shoot each other and commit suicide on just about every issue except the deadly and fatal size of the federal government. The Right CAN and MUST unite agaisnt this threat. That issue overshadows all other issues as important as those other issues may be. It doesn’t have to be “either-or.” But it MUST be 1st priority, 2nd priority, etc.

"Requiring a photo ID has to be racist and discriminatory... If 110% of a precinct votes 100% for a D, who are we to argue?"

A bunch of those would be conclusive. Where did this happen?

Why does your “focus” always involve going against the right and promoting Rand Paul and libertarianism?

“Everybody’s gone completely crazy on this voter ID thing,” Mr. Paul said in an interview. “I think it’s wrong for Republicans to go too crazy on this issue because it’s offending people.”

Mr. Paul becomes the most prominent member of his party — and among the very few — to distance himself from the voting restrictions and the campaign for their passage in states under Republican control, including North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin, that can determine presidential elections.

Rand Paul is trying to inoculate himself against the “Southern Avenger” and his musings on civil rights becoming campaign issues. He is alienating the Right on this issue, and the Left will tear him apart anyway. Meanwhile, the right thing to do (require identification to prevent vote fraud) is left dangling in the wind.

Do you see any black faces in that crowd?

No, you don’t. That proves voter ID is discriminatory.

The problem is the source of the information. It will be called a right wing website by detractors. Since the media refuses to cover it, many people will discount it as propaganda. If it ain't on the "news", it didn't happen! How do we overcome that, short of the second amendment solution?

Detractors are people who, in my definition, stand to gain by voter fraud. They may vote or they may not, while sure that voter fraud will allow their candidate of choice to succeed.

The vase majority of folks, unenrolled including folks that are busy with things other than politics, would be alarmed to hear the data from these “right-wing” websites. Spreading the word could perhaps embolden some republicans to take more of a stance on closing these election “loopholes” - no ID is a loophole.

the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

i have never been convinced that rand paul is a true, principled conservative.

wouldn’t surprise me if he is just a front for the old man.

You are absolutely right. When elections are rotten, the end of the republic is at hand. And they are, so it is.

No, of COURSE requiring a photo ID to vote would not be unconstitutional. But if it is, so also it is for buying or selling guns, including Class III items.

I was wondering if you knew where voting issues might be found in the Constitution.

If the feds were to get involved in this, then the Constitution would need to expressly support federal activities along these lines.

Otherwise, if this were just a state issue, then the Constitution would have to expressly prohibit this kind of state activity. If not, states should be able pass voter ID if that's what the people of the state choose.
