Apologies to all for joking, though...this is a truly tacky and terrible item to be selling ANYWHERE! We're going to have a nice wooden cutting board and just chop cheese/veggies right over those little hearts?! What were they thinking?!
Agree with posters on the original site: gift shops/restaurants should be located "within walking distance" and NOT right at the memorial site. I can understand the necessity of raising funds to support the museum and the memorial, but who wants to grab a hot dog for lunch right over where thousands of people died, and some are still entombed?!
The gift shop should also focus on the LIVES of the people that were lost...they could offer "souvenirs" and "remembrances" that would be relevent (like the iconic sculpture of raising the US flag at Iwo Jima - sic - for example) and forego items like cheese boards...maybe coffee cups, vases, medallions (NOT "coasters"!), books, videos, framed pictures, flower seeds, rose bushes...THAT kind of stuff! JMHO!
