However, the understanding of our immune system advanced more in a decade than it did the previous hundred years. Simply because it was the first disease seen that targeted our immune system directly.

Before the AID’s Epidemic, anyone contracting and being treated for a Venereal Disease was reported to the local Health Department so the “source” of the transmission could be found and future Infections stopped.
As soon as it became abundantly clear that AID’s was Primarily a Gay Man’s Disease, the outcry for Privacy overcame the concern for Public Health.
The Gay Community’s denial of the problem over fears of being Outed (sic) or ostracized killed more Gay Men than the Left could ever try to pin on Reagan with their Lies.
How many Gay Men knew they were Infected, or suspected as much and continued their Multiple Sex Partner Lifestyle?

In the early 80’s most sane i.e. non-left people knew that AIDS was almost entirely a male homosexual phenomenon. Simple usage of condoms would have prevented most deaths. Many homos then and now refused to use condoms. Not only were they responsible for killing themselves, they killed hundreds (thousands?) of innocent people like Arthur Ashe through their reckless, criminal behavior. I remember reading about a homosexual dentist in Florida who deliberately infected a number of his patients after he found out he was infected. Which is one big reason I have very little sympathy for homos.

It's absolutely insane. Gays hated Reagan and would never have listened to his advice on that or any other subject. Besides, there was nothing for him to tell them that they didn't already know. Long before the cascade of AIDS research dollars produced results, every gay man with half a brain knew how to avoid becoming HIV+. Did gays change their sexual practices? Some did, many did not. Were those sexual practices endorsed by Ronald Reagan? Of course not. How many gay men did Ronald Reagan kill? None.
Gay activists need to believe that conservatives were pleased by the spread of AIDS. It sure wasn't true for me. I watched men my own age being eaten alive by that damn disease. I saw the fear and hopelessness in their eyes. They knew what was coming, and it came, and they died, horribly. However, I don't think of them as victims any more than I think of my smoker friends who died of lung cancer as victims. They all intentionally engaged in behavior that they knew could kill them. They chose to do it anyway, and it killed them. They killed themselves. Leftists will twist themselves into pretzels to avoid confronting that simple fact. Leftists "know" that Big Tobacco happily killed my smoker friends, and Ronald Reagan happily killed my HIV+ acquaintances. It's like "knowing" that the sun sets in the east.
