Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the last known American POW, was freed after five years in captivity — an ordeal that began and ended in Afghanistan under a shroud of mystery.
The Taliban turned over Bergdahl Saturday morning to US special forces in exchange for five notorious Islamic militants who had been held at Guantanamo Bay and will be sent to Qatar, where they will stay for a year under the terms of the trade.
At least one of the prisoners, ranking Taliban leader Khairullah Khairkhwa, had direct ties to Osama bin Laden.
Bergdahl was picked up by helicopter in western Afghanistan, near the Pakistan border.
After climbing aboard, the 28-year-old Idahoan, trying to communicate with his rescuers over the roar of the rotors, scrawled “SF?” on a paper plate — asking his rescuers whether they were special forces.

They get 5 soldiers to put in the field over there against US and 1 over here behind the lines.
Yeh they traded one of theirs for five of theirs.

Just another reminder that our policy should be to execute every terrorist scum we can get at, never hold them in any Guantanamo, unless we truly hope to get useful intel from them (so unlikely). Anyone without intel value, execute.
Never release terrorist scum, ever. Now these 5 can help to kill more Americans and countless others.

Of course, that'll sail right over the heads of most civilians, who understand the military about as much as they understand astrophysics.

Bowe’s whining and complaining sounds a lot like that Elliot Rodger kid who murdered six people last week:

How will the cheers, joy and back slapping sound when the enemy gets the outed station chief and American soldiers are marked as a result of this swap, and allies are killed.
