Is there still that annoying latency aspect to satellite Internet?
Yes, about 3 seconds round trip. The majority of it is processing the error correction; the lightspeed delay is about a third of a second. Monthly bandwidth limit is 15GB up and down, so no torrents. It sucks much less than dialup.

If there are 180 of them, they are not in geosynchronous orbit at 25000 miles. They are much lower, probably around 100-150 miles up, as Iridium was. There will be very low latency and high throughput. The routing of data and interaction between the birds will be the hurdle to overcome, much of it has been with Iridium. I wonder if, like Iridium, before sunrise or after sunset, you’ll be able to see a flash from the solar panels as it moves across the sky almost every day.
