Actually if you are a Muslim and you renounce your faith, you are guilty of apostasy.

While that may be true as far as perfecting the renunciation, just saying or writing the words while a soldier in a war zone and then abandoning your post is text book treason.

We really need to get to that letter that FOX NEWS says he wrote. Otherwise, we can’t even prove that he renounced his citizenship.
However, this piece of news from the Blaze seems to tell us that the note exists and is being kept for evidence.

Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin reported Tuesday that members of Bergdahl’s unit said he left behind a note saying he felt disillusioned with the Army and wanted to renounce his citizenship before he was captured in 2009.
Griffin reported that the note has not been made public, nor been provided to Fox, but is part of the body of evidence being examined in the classified investigation.
