Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz hit back at what he saw as an unfair accusation from Democratic New York Sen. Chuck Schumer that Cruz would allow child pornography on the grounds that it qualifies as free speech, in a Senate Judiciary hearing.
“I understand that in my absence, Sen. Schumer very kindly gave a lecture on civility and encouraged me to not go over the top,” said Cruz.
“He then in the same breath accused me of supporting child pornography,” he continued, adding, “so I appreciate that demonstration in senatorial restraint from the senior senator from New York.”
Earlier in Tuesday’s hearing, which was being held to discuss a constitutional amendment backed by Democrats to overturn the Citizens United ruling, Schumer had pondered the extent of Cruz’s opposition to the amendment. Cruz and other Republicans oppose the amendment on the grounds that it infringes on free speech rights protected by the First Amendment.
Schumer called Cruz’s stance “over-the-top.”
“Are you against anti-child pornography laws?” Schumer asked of Cruz, who was not present in the chamber at the time. “Is he against anti-child pornography laws? Is he an absolutist?” Schumer continued.
He and other Democrats at the hearing argued that limitations can be placed on free speech, such as with child pornography and shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater.

Don’t be surprised if child porn is found on Cruz’s computer. I don’t doubt that the government will put it there. These people do not like it when someone stands up to them.
In the good old days Cruz would have slapped the creep. Or maybe even call him out for a duel. Are there countries where duels are still legal? If there are, Cruz could ask Schumer to meet him there and he can choose the weapons. Then watch the little creep wet his pants.
I would have guessed that child pornographers would be a solidly demonrat constituents.

Actually now that I think about it, what are the odds of far leftists and far right wing types both just miraculously using a word like “absolutist”? I mean it isn’t used much outside of history and philosophy texts.
Purist is a bit more common, though far from an every day use word. but “absolutist” has the hallmarks of a directed propaganda campaign when it suddenly appears out of the blue on a right wing board..

Back when Zell Miller suggested calling out Chris Matthews for insulting Michelle Malkin on his show, it occurred to me that we should reinstate dueling. We could take the New Jersey state park in Weehauken where Burr shot Hamilton and make that our national dueling grounds. ESPN would cover it if CSPAN didn’t want to.
The only thing to expect of Schumer is that he will be a complete and total scumbucket (far larger and holds slimy scum far better than just a scum bag!)

Thats why I say all right wingers should hit a few regular porn sites just so the NSA has it on file. Then just say “It’s just about sex. Everyone does it” when they try blackmailing people with it.
