Following this with interest, from Ohio...can anyone tell me anything about the third candidate, Thomas Carey? and how he managed to divert the election results enough so neither Cochran nor McDaniel could achieve 50%+1?

IMHO, Cochran is a bit too elder of a statesman now, but I sincerely hope (watching from afar) that McDaniel has no feet of clay, like too many of our candidates did the last time we had a chance to take the Senate back. Either way, Cochran still has a pretty solid record, and a lot of seniority in the U.S. Senate...you have to say THAT for him, anyway!
