Something else I don’t think most folk get.

First I've heard of such. Can you provide a source?

Sure.

Snipity dipity do-dah!

t’s probably no secret that I hate protesters, especially protesters like Mr. Arguello whose only point is that they’re attention whores. Mr. Arguello, according to reports, called around Parris Island trolling for someone to give him permission to wear his DI cover for his protest. One of the people he called was SGM Archie who told him that it wouldn’t be appropriate. Arguello, apparently, didn’t like the answers he was getting, so he wore it anyway.

end snipage.

No. What you saw was simple assault on a civilian by an active duty marine. That’s it. The covers or lack thereof will have no part in his trial.

Former Parris Island drill instructor Ethan Arguello, who organized the protest, claims
a Parris Island Marine approached him along part of Ribaut Road about his hat.

“He pulls up and he walks up to me and says, ‘Are you Ethan Arguello?’ I said ‘yes’, and
he said ‘I spoke to you on the phone yesterday’ and I said ‘yes’. He said ‘I know
I told you not to wear that campaign cover,’” said Arguello.

I appreciate the link. It's really nothing more than gossip. Gossip from a guy who says, "It’s probably no secret that I hate protesters..."

I probably happened, so I'll take it for what it's worth.

Now, about people being fined and put in jail for wearing their old cover. I've never heard of anyone being prosecuted. Our current Secretary of State wore his fatigue blouse and ribbons in Senate hearings in the 70's and wasn't arrested. Do you think anyone has been prosecuted for such in, say, the last 10 years?

Here's a recent Rolling Thunder pic to help you out:

I see a lot of distinctive parts of the uniform.

You can’t get it through your noggin that the SgtMajor has no authority to accost a civilian and abscond with his property. Why is that?

“What you saw was simple assault on a civilian by an active duty marine.”

Active duty Marine’s forehead makes contact with ‘civilian’s’ cover, cover falls off.

What assault?

assault?

You sure? You saw that in the vid?

If it’s true, and there’s actual evidence of that, rather than people seeing what they want to think they saw, then he’ll get the hammer for sure.

But, if you think this aint about a former Marine pulling a piece of sh** grand stand stunt (really. Protesting the actions of the POTUS outside a USMC recruit training depot? How’s that make even a smidge of diff to anyone who ain’t already in the choir?) AND violating the law while doing so by purposely misusing USMC uniform item, and it aint about the cover aint what it was about?

You know exactly what this is about? The Sgt Maj wasn’t a perfect pu**y of a plastic saint and folks want to get their panties all twisted up.

God forbid we have men in our Corps who stand up to asshats.

And people wonder why we, as a nation and a society, can’t even conceive of actually fighting a war to win it anymore.

Semper Fi, dude.

Thanks. I concede the point. And, it helps better explain the SGM’s actions.

Back in the 70’s loads of us vets wore our field jackets as civilians. Nobody got jailed or fined.

Archie needs to be demoted to E-1 and retired on that amount.

You don’t like the first amendment. My response to that would be along the lines of “tough shlt”.

Dang it. You jumped the gun.

I was just lighting up a cig while I thought about how to word my concession speech.

I do apologize for getting contentious. This is such a non issue.

The act of knocking the hat off the head is simple assault. Taking the hat is theft. These are not hard concepts.

I do like the 1st Amendment and am sworn by oath to protect it with my life’s blood. I’ve been deliquent as have every single one of us, in standing up to that oath against the destructionists, but this aint that, not even close.

The First Amendment says congress shall make no law regarding speech and religion.

It, purposely does NOT say that no one can say boo about what others say or do in their protests. If you were to actually read what the crafters of the Constitution actually had to say about it, you’d know that it is up to the citizenry to decide what can and can not be said and done. Not the Fed Gov.

Our current distortion was committed in order to cover the commiescum in their predations.

I stand firm for the Constitution... as it is actually written and what it actually means by the words actually in it. Not by the twisted interpretations of Constitutional destructionists who’ve worked their will to put us on our knees.

I’m sure you are a good marine but you don’t know jackshit about the constitution and rights. You don’t get to tell me what speech is authorized and the military has no authority to confront the civilian population because they are not wearing the uniform of the day. It doesn’t fill me with confidence knowing that even here at FR we have people so clueless about freedom and rights. Oh well...

In San Diego in 1970 I traded my field jacket to a drunk squid for his P coat. I got the better part of the deal. I still have it although it's way too hot to wear it where I live now.

There. My soul is now unburdened.
