Citation won 19 of 20 (yes, 20) starts in 1948. With all due respect to the admittedly faster Secretariat, Citation in his three-year-old campaign was the epitome of durability and stamina.

I’m too young to have seen Citation, but I was 21 when Secretariat made his jaw dropping win at the Belmont.

We all expected him to win, but my goodness......nothing like that.

In no event in sports have I ever seen anything like it. If someone wants a make a poster called “Total Domination”, I can’t think of anything that can compare.
