He tried the foreign legion first. My gut tells me he was just looking for a free plane ride and that his parents were already involved in Afghanistan.

Here’s what was in the Rolling Stone article as to why he joined the Army. He was “enticed” don’t ya know. He was going to Afghanistan to help “rebuild villages” and teach them to “defend themselves”. Uh-huh.

Yes, the overarching question has to be, Why did he join the Army? To desert? To go over to the Taliban? Or is this a carefully plotted scenario to get prisoners out of Guantanamo? Or?
