Unlikely Articles of Impeachment
American Thinker ^ | June 8, 2014 | By Robert Charles

Thomas Jefferson, drafter of the Declaration of Independence, was -- perhaps surprisingly -- no fan of the U.S. Constitution’s impeachment provision. Initially an enthusiast, he found it personally frustrating. Having identified a miscarriage of justice by federal judges, he asked Congress to impeach the miscreants. Instead, Congress dawdled and acquitted. In 1807, Jefferson wrote to his friend William Giles: "Impeachment is a farce which will not be tried again."

Jefferson was frustrated by the process, although not the principle. He was wrong when he predicted it would not be tried again, although right about its utility in reckoning with official misconduct. As a rule, it has been distracting, nearly unworkable, and a painful remedy to effectuate. Its greatest value may be as a deterrent to abuse, including by a president.

The provision’s history notwithstanding, one can imagine -- if only imagine -- what Articles of Impeachment against the current president might look like, if ever framed. They almost certainly never will be. As a remedy, impeachment requires gobs of time, offenses so egregious both parties are animated to action, and tolerance for national distraction.

I think we should impeach Obama just to see Juan Williams on TV trying to explain why the front of his pants are all wet.

Impeachment won’t be tried because of cowardice of a presidents skin color. It seems Congress is the last place you will ever find Constitutional justice.

Obozo is doing everything he can to get congress to impeach him. It may be the only thing they can do to bring his peeps to the polls in numbers sufficient to save control of the U.S. Senate in November.

Perhaps he’s actually forcing the issue.......

Like “daring” them... to motivate their base & sub-sequentially the 2016 election as well.

They won’t impeach because impeachment is an empty threat. There is no way that you will get 2/3 of the Senate to remove Obama even if the House was to impeach him.

1. The numbers to prevail on impeachment, in The House, are not there.

2. Waste of time, as the numbers for removal are even less in the Senate.

Just get on with and obstruct where we can.

He’s out in two years and nothing will change that....

Unless he were to let some terrorist free....oh, wait...

Write to your congressman and demand that he support impeachment proceedings against Barack Hussein Obama.

At the very least, this would divert Obama’s attention from his headlong rush to the destruction of this country.

And, who knows, if enough people ignored the “experts”, maybe the resulting groundswell would help congress grow some cajones and finally rid the nation of this cancer.

Congress is too petrified of being called racists to do anything.

I have no doubt. Look how well the phony government shutdown issue worked out for them politically. It got ObamaCare off the front page, allowed his Keystone Cops to kill an African-American mother with a baby in her car with Zero political consequences and probably gave them a little bump in November 2013 elections.

Write to MY congresscritter, Sheila Jackson Lee.

Urinating into a hurricane is more useful. I do wish she'd take her carpetbagging heinie back to New York City where she oozed out of.
