Britt Hume said you’d be hard pressed to ever hear the term amnesty coming from Cantor, as he was totally against it as are all members of the GOP and it was because his opponent painted it as amnesty that he lost. Some in the establishment are looking for sensible immigration reform but that does not, nor did it ever consist of amnesty, says Hume. He has a point because there’s never been any question where Graham stands on immigration and yet he pulled it out tonight.

Cantor lost because his constituents are highly informed and highly conservative.

Graham is winning because statewide there are a lot of moderates and dem-leaning voters with a bias towards incumbency.

In other words, the answer is in the demographics.

But one sign is clear, with just a little over half the precincts reporting Graham pulls in only 59% and the final figure will be lower. That is not something to be proud of for an incumbent. He should be running away with the primary with well over 70%.
