It is not better. Electing GOP GETS YOU DEMOCRATS! It is no different because they SUPPORT WHAT THE DEMS DO!

WHY do you not see the history of this country in front of you?

Look at the House right now. We can’t get anything decent done. Why? We have the majority. Is it doing us any good? Heck no. I’m sick of this rot.

I’m sick of it, but why can’t the House get anything done? I submit it’s primarily because the Democrats have the Senate and the presidency. Has the president ever given any indication whatsoever that he’s open to compromise? No, and Harry Reid has the president’s back. That leaves the House only two practical choices: shut the government down or tread water in hopes that the votes change in 2014 or 2016.

You forgot the most important thing the House can do when it can't get good policy past the Democrats in the Senate and or at the White House.  You pass good policy, and publicize it.  Is Boehner doing this?  No.  The man is an absolute wimp politically.  He doesn't have clue one.  And HE is as good an example as there is why we don't put RINOs in.  They block someone good from holding the position.

Why pass legislation you know won't make it into law?  You do it, you publicize it, you make as much noise about it as you can, so the public will know what they could have had if they had voted Republican.  That's what was so brilliant about Newt's actions in 1994.  He made a list of the top things the Republican would do or try to do if ellected.  And then look what happened.

Think there a snowball's chance in hell of that happening in this House climate?  We both know, there's no way.  Boehner is afraid of his own shaddow.  And so, the nation languishes.

I know it’s frustrating! It pisses me off that we have some good people in Congress, and they’re essentially powerless. I love Senator Cruz and some of the others, but he can’t do anything unless we send him more allies.

And how do we send him more allies, if the GOPe and the RNC are screwing with good people in every single primary?  How do we sent Cruz more people, when the House leadership telegraphs they think he's as crazy as the Democrats do?  When we have RINOs in power, we're lost for another 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16... years.  Put another RINO House member in, it's at least two years to replace them.  And when the RNC/GOPe bulks up their campaign wallet, it gets nearly impossible to furlough them.  Same with the Senate, except there it takes a full six years to remove the guy, if then.  And the White House?  Once they get installed, it's generally eight years.  If we put the wrong guy in in 2016, it will be at least 2025 before we can swear in a good replacement.  And that's only if the Democrats can't capitalize off mistakes and take their turn for eight years.  In real terms, a RINO presidency sets us back about 17 years.  The Bush presidency set the state for us to go from Clinton until 2017, before a true Conservative could have any remote chance of being elected, with the help of the GOPe/RNC.  That's the better part of two decades.  We haven't had a true Conservative loyalist since Reagan.  Now, want more helpings of RINOs?  Not me.

The solution offered by some here on Free Republic? Vote for Democrats to defeat any Republican who dares compromise with Democrats. How in the world is THAT going to make the situation in the Senate any better? So instead of having a RINO quisling who sometimes compromises with Democrats, we actually prefer a full on Democrat—someone who will absolutely vote against us for at least six more years?!?

If you read my comments and came away with the idea I'm uring someone to vote for Democrats, you've completely misunderstood my comments.  I'm not even willing to vote for (R) Democrats.  Why would anyone think I'd vote for a (D) Democrat?

Unlike some of those on Free Republic who offer up voting for Democrats as a solution, I will not call them “morons” or use acronyms to shout obscenities at them. You see, the path to political victory lies in building bridges, not burning them all down.

How has that bulding bridges with the GOPe/RNC worked out for us?

We get the House, the Senate, and the Presidency, and we use it to pass Medicare Part D and try to shove through Amnesty.  We reduce our military further.  We trash talk Israel when it does nothing but defend itself.

Maybe it's time to tear some bridges down!

Citizen wants his blankie. He refuses to admit the damage the GOP does and he will always invent an excuse to keep them in power.

He and those like him are the source of the GOP power and resiliency because he can be counted on , ‘no matter what’ to back them. Thus, they are the battery that power the GOP assault on America.

“...Some here propose voting for Democrats to defeat RINOs like Cantor. ...”

You will never hear me say anything like that. You WILL hear me say I will write in my choice, rather than vote for a RINO.

When I vote for a RINO, I am being used. That person is using MY vote to help the Dems.

“...I want someone to explain to me exactly how the country is somehow better with more Democrats in office...”

You are absolutely correct - It’s NOT better. But my question remains: Explain to me how it serves our cause to elect quislings, just because they have an “R” after their name?

I think you and I probably agree on a great many issues, but I cannot and will not support a RINO that only stabs us in the back “some of the time”... those “some times” invariably are on the key and important issues that typically are things Conservatives want stopped dead.

I agree. I said on an earlier thread that I think he was shellshocked. He had a fake grin stuck on his face, as he stared straight ahead and babbled on about basically nothing.

Nothing nice to say to his competitor and he garbled out something idiotic about where he and his supporters were going. Oh, and that he was a conservative.

“People that want more of a problem when they admit the problems are morons.”

I know you want to call me a moron. Why not just say it instead of talking around it like you’re trying to be nice.

Let me clarify my position for you one more time.

Democrats are a huge problem. Democrats vote against everything you and I hold dear. They are destroying the country.

RINOs are a problem. They sometimes—maybe even often—vote with Democrats against everything you and I hold dear. They sometimes help the Democrats destroy the country, albeit more slowly.

Now explain to me in very precise terms how it’s better or even the same to have more Democrats in office?

Now a RINO is someone who sometimes—maybe even most of the time—aids our political enemies. Just how much aid makes someone a RINO? What if they’re against abortion and for lower taxes, but they support amnesty for the Dreamers? Do you think we should vote for an abortion loving, taxing and spending, full on amnesty pimp Democrat to beat the RINO? That seems to be what you’re promoting, and if so, how in the world does that advance our cause?

Norm, I think he just has a different viewpoint, brother. Most of us out here want what’s best for the Country.

We’ve all got ideas on how to solve things. We knock our heads together and come up with a solution and then make it happen. We argue, yell a little bit, then come back to the table and hash it out.

I think that’s the strength of this forum. We can disagree and find ways to work it out.

I think he’s looking for a way to stay in the race. Or at least make sure Brat loses so he can run again in two years.

If the shoe fits, don’t be afraid to wear it.

When you help empower GOP RINOS, YOU put dems into positions of power. YOU. Not me. YOU put dems into power because the GOP you vote for side with them., In precice terms there is no difference between a GOP in power supporting a dem and a Dem doing what they do.

Dems did not do ‘Ryan screws vets’. Dems are not pushing as hard as the GOP for illegals. Dems are not turning on their own voters. That is the GOP doing it and the Dem benefits.

Either admit reality or admit you will ‘no matter what’ the voting to come and be done with it.

Gotcha, brother.

But overall, I think we all agree that Cantor getting his arsch handed to him is a very good thing and sends a loud message.

The bad thing: He’s probably vindictive enough to try to help ram something through with his buddy Boehner. The GOP-e isn’t scared - they’re pissed now.

Hence, RINO helping Dems... and our point exactly.

I have to be straight up honest. I WANT him to go scorched earth on the people that hosed him. Because the right wing needs the wake up call.

I want this immigration issue rammed down. Because then either the lesser evils man up and fight them or we lose. I am tired of the protracted death by a thousand cuts games.

I want the endgame on this ASAP. Come what may. We either fight or lose.

You and I both.

“...We either fight or lose...”

I think we both agree that Brat’s deposition of Cantor was nothing less than a swift Right Cross to the Jaw of the RINOs...

“It is no different because they SUPPORT WHAT THE DEMS DO!”

I’ll explain why I disagree. You keep claiming the “RINOs” support what the Democrats do. I even agree with you to a certain extent, but it’s simply not as black and white as you appear to claim. Even some of the best conservatives out there aren’t 100% pure. Are they RINOs? Where do you draw the line?

Look at some of the conservative rating sites. Democrats are typically near zero, but the worst RINOs usually score a few votes in our favor. Even the worst RINO may be with us on 20%, 30% or even 40% of the votes!

Now you keep saying the RINOs need to be eliminated, and I agree. I want them gone, and I want the Republican Party shifted right. That’s not the issue. The issue is you keep writing that it’s better to elect Democrats (a MAJOR problem) to defeat RINOs (a lesser, but significant problem).

What’s really more important here, making the Republican Party more pure or building enough support to control Congress? Forgive me if I seem dense, but I simply don’t understand how more Democrats is better or even the same. If that were so, tell me we’d be in the same shape right now if a Democrat replaced every RINO. If that were so, we wouldn’t even control the House.

It’s said that Boehner could pass immigration amnesty right now with Democrat and RINO votes, but Boehner is a RINO don’t you know. So put a Democrat in Boehner’s seat. Put another in Cantor’s seat. Keep eliminating those RINOs and tell me we’d be in the exact same shape as we are now.

A solid hit. And rather than running to his corner to aid Cantor, we should hit again. And again.

Some want to get him an ice pack.

"To thine ownself be true.". This is on a coin I carry in my pocket and for this saying I give my self to answering to God. I think all politicians should carry one. It would be a nice reminder to them that when they are true to themselves they can be true to their constituents, but once their decision is to turn to corruption then by Gods grace let their minds be troubled and their heasssrts not be at rest, but let the forces of truth remove them from their corruption.

I know a lot of people think I maybe crazy in my thinking, but I believe with God all things are possible. God sure has done a lot for me and as a sinner I did not deserve His love or grace until I surrendered my heart to him. We just have people who wants to be God, but not to know God, such as our politicians.

I will always vote for the person who believe in America and the Constitution. No more "hope and change" garbage of willful destruction of America.

Completely agree. When they’re on the ropes, finish it. One Primary at a time.

Or whatever it takes.
