I would say we got Romney because conservatives were fractured, just like we were when we got McCain.

I'm not so sure. Remember Fred Thompson? Do you remember that in a very short time and on a fraction of the budget, he caught up to Romney, even entering late? He even placed ahead of Romney in one state primary and rode his butt pretty closely in the rest of them. And on that day that he actually beat Romney in the state (I forget) primary, on Fox News, Britt Hume mentioned it exactly ...

ZERO times.

Britt Hume never even uttered Thompson's name. I remember clearly. I watched as in about one third the time, on about one third the budget, Thompson was working his way up in the polls -- and eagerly tuned to Fox to see the phenomenon reported. Instead, Thompson was the invisible man. It was a real story, and Americans tuning to Fox News would liked to have known more. They tuned to the wrong place.

That was when I realized how Faux Fox News is. They OMITTED Thompson. He was invisible. It was maddening to watch. And enlightening.

It all stinks like yesterday's diapers. I think the left side of the Republican party is afflicted with the same leftist "ethic" of cheating, if you will, as America is afflicted with cheated, manipulated elections where the liberal minority candidate wins.

I suspect conservatives weren't fractured so much as they were adroitly manipulated out of a choice. The Fourth Estate, and that includes Levin and Rush -- Levin on the air referred to Fred Thompson as "my guy," and Rush Limbaugh identified Fred Thompson as "the only conservative on the stage last night" the day after the first debates -- failed. I think Rush and Levin were as taken aback as anybody, and McCain had Palin. But Romney? Who is kidding who? If that's "Republican," I'm Oprah's grandpa. If Levin and Rush buy it, that's their deal and they can keep it.

Personally, I think that while the Republican party infrastructure regarding committees is something conservatives need to consider for congressional folks, in the 2016 Presidential, there will be a gaping void if the Republican party performs true to form and nominates another Romney-like collectivist leftist Democrat-minded "Republican" and expects intelligent people not to tell them to take a hand-basket to hell.

More than likely, 2016 will be as ripe for a SECOND party as a grape ready for harvest. The PRESIDENT may well be a "third" party independent representing the SECOND party demand in Americans. If that "third" party SECOND choice acts to number the days of remaining leftist Republicans and restores Limited Government Conservatism as the Republican's party's ALTERNATIVE to the left, great. It won't matter if we face in 2016 a Dem vs Dem Lite scenario as we did in 2012, which we probably will.

Good points. I would argue that it there are four or five conservatives running and one or two libtards the libtards will probably win.
