The 20 y/o was referring to the man’s own daughter and grandchild, I think. I don’t know what Crazy Girl’s mom was doing this whole time or why they didn’t just call the police in the beginning. The interior of that home is ruined due to gasoline being spilled over every surface.
She has her own 2-year old daughter per the article, unless that’s a combination typo and sloppy bookkeeping.

That’s the way I interpreted it also - this is very badly written... Instead of calling the man living there “the boyfriend”, he could have been referred to as the man living with the nutso’s mother. I had to read a few of the sentences a second time to understand what they were trying to say.
