Hillary says US should lift embargo on Cuba

In a public break with the Obama administration. Hillary Clinton said Thursday that the U.S. should lift the half-century-old embargo of Cuba.

“The embargo is Castro’s best friend,” Clinton told the Council on Foreign Relations, while promoting her new book, “Hard Choices.”

Clinton, who is considered the leading Democratic hopeful for president in 2016, said the Castro regime has used the embargo as a ready “excuse” to blame the U.S. for all its problems and foment anti-American sentiment.

“I would like to see the excuse removed,” Clinton said. “It also would help our relationship with other Latin American countries . . . I’d like to change the psychology of that issue.”

Good idea, Hillary. Way to go after the Cuban vote in Florida.

Hillary, only when YOU, Bubba and Hussein are at GITMO! Then Americans can travel there and throw things at you in your cage!

We have trade with China. They helped to slaughter thousands of our troops in Korea and Vietnam. Yet we won’t trade with Cuba.

The Embargo against Cuba has worked for more than 50 years and with a little more effort and a little more time, the Embargo will certainly inspire the Cuban people to depose Castro.

China and Cuba are different animals. Not quite the same market. China's a lot bigger. China's also not quite as close to home.

I do love that in the week of Clinton gaffes, she's just alienated another block of voters -- any Cuban American that's stupid enough to vote Democrat.

Honestly though...what would happen? You’d have Pappas and Beer Havana...druken US college kids peeing all over the place... I doubt even Cuba wants the embargo lifted.

The sustained embargo overt the years with the support of US Presidents from Kennedy to Reagan and Reagan to George W Bush has worked.

Way to go, old Piano Legs.

Cuba is right there, at the top of my list of pressing and critical national and world issues.

Keep looking, though; you might actually stumble onto something the majority of American citizens really care about.

I'll hold my breath.

There is no, I repeat, no embargo on Cuba. Cuba can buy virtually anything in the US except weapons. Castro could stuff his people with filet mignon every night and there would never be a shortage of drugs. The key word here is “buy.” Castro is a notorious deadbeat who owes billions to Europe and Canada. What Hillary means by embargo, is letting Castro get credit.
