Alison Spann was just 9 when she learned her father, a U.S. Marine turned CIA operative, had become the first American killed in the war in Afghanistan. Thirteen years later, she found out her country had freed the Taliban leader behind his death.
In the time between, Spann has cherished the memory of her father, Johnny Micheal Mike Spann, who was killed during a Nov. 25, 2001 prisoner uprising at a northern Afghanistan compound where he was interrogating Taliban fighters. The 32-year-old was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in a ceremony in which he was lauded by then-CIA Director George Tenet for trying to build a "better, safer world." His daughter has since grown up and recently graduated from Pepperdine University, even as more than 2,300 Americans have died fighting in Afghanistan.
But nothing prepared Alison Spann for news that Mullah Mohammad Fazi, the unquestioned leader of the prisoners at the compound where her father was killed, had been traded along with four cohorts held at Guantanamo Bay for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who had been held by the Taliban for nearly five years..
It does become harder and harder to have faith in an administration that is plagued with scandal after scandal. - Alison Spann, daughter of first American killed in war in Afghanistan

Rolling Stone and its Leftwing dullards that defended the harmless Gitmo 5 will now argue the Marine was responsible.
Barry has the keys to the compound, and he’s letting his terrorist brothers out!
“Two, Mr Christian?”
How long before these terrorists are killing Americans again?
Hussein Obama doesn’t really care.
Has Obongo seen this in”The NewsPapers”(or on TV)??If not,IT DIDN’T HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MSM will be rushing to interview her I’m sure.
Misty eyes ping
This is an unforgivable breech of faith from Obama. Its only because none of his kinship are buried in one of the many graves of our fall who have sacrificed their lives to stop the Taliban.
At some point there will be an accounting for this choice where American blood was spilled to capture those whom we turned loose now free to kill again.
The lady in the picture is the widow of Johnny Mike Spann. The only biological child of hers in the picture is the little boy. She (my hero) adopted her husband’s little girls because their mother, the first Mrs. Spann, was succumbing to breast cancer. His parents were aging, so to honor her husband, she stepped up and adopted these little girls. She nurtured them and loved them and brought them into adulthood. What a lady! For 13 years, she has been my inspiration, my hero.
Yes, my eyes are misty, too.
Well said...
Smells more like hussein himself decided who to trade and pick these clowns specifically to slap America in the face once again.
Having just retired, and listening more actively to talk-radio, I heard Lucy Goldberg suddenly draw her breath in, and whispered into the microphone that, "Michael Spann had been bitten to death by prisoners."
(Terrorist prisoners had their hands tied behind their backs).

Heartbreaking.
I was 12 years old when I saw my father’s casket draped with the American flag lowered into the ground at Arlington National Cemetery on a cold January day in 1967.
It was heartbreaking then but I loved my country all the more when I saw those fine soldiers of the Old Guard fire the 21 gun salute in my father’s honor.
I can imagine what this young lady must be feeling when she learned the terrorist who was involved in her father’s killing was set freed in exchange for a derelict. I think she must have mixed feelings about her country now. All I would say to her is to work with conservatives to restore the honor of our flag. She should volunteer if she can with Sarah Palin or others who truly understand what’s at stake for our military and our country.
