My husband’s company pulled out of So California 5 years ago. Now we are in AZ. I really miss the beauty, the weather and friends in California......we were there for 2 decades. That being said, I doubt we would retire there. I could not afford to spend most of my Social Security on property taxes.

Company I worked for before, the management went really downhill. One day, came to me, told me my position was eliminated and was given orders to move to the east coast and was required to sell my house - so no means to come back if the new job went downhill.

"I could not afford to spend most of my Social Security on property taxes."

Prop 13 took care of that if you were there for 20 years. By leaving the State, you surrendered that protection.
