The ATF Form 4473 question 27 and 28 already asks for model and serial number.

The 4473s are kept at the dealer (supposedly anyway) and not entered into any central database.

they don't have to fear getting their doors kicked in in the night and being killed for their beliefs,

Yet.

Yet.

True, but that is a hard moral choice to make. Tim McVeigh made it, and most people don't view him as a hero.

As a newspaper that is protected by the First Amendment, calling for restrictions in violation of the Second Amendment for a "smart, simple step" to reduce shocking gun violence causes me to suggest that the Wisconsin State Journal would be for smart, simple restrictions that can be placed on the press (TV, radio, newspaper, magazines, and so forth) and on burial facilities (including churches) to help reduce gun violence. They are:

After all, isn't the pen mightier than the sword?

True enough. All I’m saying is that if they keep pushing, there will be push back. Not by me but...there are a lot of unbalanced people out there who can’t stand Liberals.

•Reporters, editors, anchors, columnists, and news show producers shall be fingerprinted, background checks performed, and be required to pay for a registration card, renewed every two years

I like it, BUT much too logical. Gun control isn't based on logic, but rather the worship of government power. To anti-gunners (like most of the MSM) we aren't just people with a different opinion, an opinion that is BTW enshrined in the Bill of Rights, but we're blasphemers for wanting to keep power out of the hands of government - blasphemers who should be punished.

The 4473s are kept at the dealer (supposedly anyway) and not entered into any central database.

They are turned over to the BATF when the dealer closes shop. Also, there's been multiple reports of the BATF coming into "examine the books" and photocopying the store's forms.

That’s why I said “supposedly,” but the difference is that they weren’t designed to be a central database. The so-called “instant background check” is a much worse threat, since those are computerized, and there really isn’t any way to tell how long the government retains them and no way to force them to delete them if they don’t want to.
