At least 356 people, including 257 civilians, have died since the beginning of the “anti-terrorist” operation in Ukraine’s eastern regions of Lugansk and Donetsk, according to UN calculations. There were 14 children among the dead.

The results prepared by the UN special commission in Ukraine have been presented by Gianni Magazzeni, head of European Department of the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights.

According to Magazzeni, the final body count includes 257 civilians (of them 14 children), 11 more died in Mariupol plus two staff members of Voda Donbassa company . The remaining 86 victims are the servicemen of Ukrainian army, including several dozen paratroopers and nine crew members of Ilyushin-76 who died in the recent plane crash not far from Lugansk airport.

The results prepared by the UN Special Commission in Ukraine have been presented by Gianni Magazzeni, head of the European Department of the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights.

According to the Investigative Committee’s information, starting from April 12, Avakov and Kolomoysky organized and managed the military operation carried out by the Ukrainian military, the National Guard and Right Sector armed fighters, and the Dnepr special forces of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, created and financed by Kolomoysky.

So why are you peddling this Putin propaganda outlet here ?
http://www.spiegel.de/international/business/putin-fights-war-of-images-and-propaganda-with-russia-today-channel-a-916162.html

Do you support the return of the Soviet Slave empire in-which a Russian police state rules over Eastern Europe ?.

Did you ever see in person the Berlin Wall or the Soviet troops pointing guns and dogs at Germans trying to escape Soviet Hell ?...

Is this what you want ?...

It's clear the Eastern Ukraine doesn't want to be any part of the rest of the country. You know that Donetsk and Luhansk provinces declared their independence from the Ukraine don't you?

Compare that situation to Texas and Alaska declaring themselves no longer part of the United States. Would you support bombing them back into submission?

The IMF is partly to blame here. The essentially blackmailed Ukraine that if they let these two provinces go the IMF wouldn't give them 17 Billion dollars.

You know John McCain also was involved in overthrowing their previous government corrupt or not.

And why is Joe Biden’s son head of Ukraine's Natural Gas company? Coincidence?

I had missed that, thank you. I found it unbelievable but there is plenty of documentation. Things make a little more sense now.

According to what source? It's only clear that a group of bums paid by Russian Intelligence (oxymoron, I know:)) declared themselves "independent" to give Terrorussia an excuse to stuff Eastern Ukraine with their bandits and weapons. There are some pro-russian folks living there, but they are duped by your likes minority.

You're kidding right? There's this thing called the Internet. You can search for information there. Try it sometime.

As you know very well, being such a scholar of the internet, the vote that took place in Donetsk and Luhansk was a complete farce. Only a tenth of the normal voting stations were open, tens of thousands of ballots had already been marked in favor of the referendum before it even started, most voters stayed home, voter lists were not used, voting was not secret, and all the ballots, which were on paper, were almost instantly counted and the results announced. To call this a vote requires an amazing degree of mendacity that only a Putin boot licker could stomach.

I never kid with idiots. Nowhere on internet except Russian cesspools this “independence” is taken seriously.

It’s always a good idea to go to the source rather than relying on state owned propaganda, in this case Russia Today. http://www.ohchr.org/EN/NewsEvents/Pages/Media.aspx?IsMediaPage=true&LangID=E

Reading the report, it looks like Putin should be on the dock in the Hague for bringing in thousands of Russian fighter in eastern Ukraine to wage a war of terror against the population. Moreover, as in Rwanda and Yugoslavia in the 90s, it looks like Putin has been using vile propaganda to create ethnic divisions where they did no exist before. The deaths of those civilians are ones he must be made to answer for.

As opposed to Ukrainian elections. Or even US elections?

I don't see alot of refugees headed back into Ukraine. I do see alot headed for the safety of Russia (providing they don't get killed by Ukrainian bombing on the way).

I've been trying to follow this. The revolution happened in Kiev and not many other parts of Ukraine. US diplomats were there encouraging it. When the coup government took over, one of their first actions was to ban Russian as an official language in eastern Ukraine. Burning civilians trapped in a building and killing citizens at a checkpoint on Easter eve didn't win the Kiev government any friends among the ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine. In two regions, those who've taken charge have shown a capacity to govern and defend themselves. Ukraine hasn't paid its bargain rate fuel bill to Russia for years.

Meanwhile Ukraine is spending its limited resources killing dissenters in eastern Ukraine rather than working on measures to better the lives of its people.

I can't imagine how at this juncure Kiev can put the country back together.

The Ukrainian elections took place in accordance with international standards. In some parts of the east, the Russian forces prevented election offices from opening. These areas represent less than 10% of the country. Over 60% of eligible voters participated. There is no legitimate comparison to be made. As for refugees, there are tens of thousand who have fled the zones where Russian combatants are to other areas of Ukraine: most to areas such as Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv. Others have gone as far west as Lviv.

If you only get your news from Russia Today and other Russian state owned sources, you would not know this.

Actually dumkopf, the correct source document is the full report , not a UN press release.

This section in particular was...illuminating.

With respect to the incidents that took place in Odessa on 2 May, it should be noted that six official investigations have been established. The main bodies undertaking such investigations are the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and the State Security Service in Ukraine (SBU). It is with regret that the HRMMU reports a lack of cooperation from both governmental bodies, particularly at the central level with the HRMMU, which has been preventing the HRMMU from conducting a proper assessment of the progress made.

A great many here would, and regardless, that is the Washington government would attempt. Been there. Done that.

The press release serves as a good starting point as it provides an overview and links directly to the full report. I’m not sure why you seem to think this is not helpful. It is certainly more helpful than the Russia Today article which cherry picks a few items from the report but fails to provide the interested reader with the means easily to read the report for himself.
