Sources: Lois Lerner’s emails likely gone forever
Politico.com ^ | 6/18/14 | RACHAEL BADE

Ex-IRS official Lois Lerner’s crashed hard drive has been recycled, making it likely the lost emails of the lightening rod in the tea party targeting controversy will never be found, according to multiple sources.

“We’ve been informed that the hard drive has been thrown away,” said Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the top Republican on the Finance Committee, in a brief hallway interview.

Two additional sources told POLITICO the same late on Wednesday, citing IRS officials.

It may just be standard government procedure, but the revelation is significant because some lawmakers and observers thought there was a way that tech experts could revive Lerner’s emails after they were washed away in a computer crash in the summer of 2011. Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), for example, subpoenaed her damaged hard drive earlier this week, when he asked for “all hard drives, external drives, thumb drives, and computers” and “all electronic communication devices the IRS issued to Lois G. Lerner.”

“IT experts have weighed in and said yes — we can get those” emails, said Rep. Charles Boustany (R-La.) earlier Wednesday.

The latest news suggests such professionals may never get the chance to try again — and the IRS has said even its criminal investigators who specialize in rebuilding hard drives to recover hidden information from criminals were unable to restore the data back in 2011. But this is only likely to further enrage Republicans, who are fuming over the matter and suspect Washington officials drove the selective scrutiny.

What about the hard drive on the mail server? Also, what about her personal computer and secret email account, that everyone in DC seems to have for just such occasions?

What we need is an NSA type organization that will suck up all computer activity of the federal government. But it will be owned and run by the states. If we need an FOIA request, we go there, not the feds.

There must have been some pretty damning communications for all this to have happened.

But, I don’t buy it.

Tell the NSA to provide the info.
Get the resident servers and restore deleted info if it exists.
Find all mirrored servers and open them up.
TAKE HER CELL PHONE.

They have to check IRS mail server. It doesn’t matter whether her hard disk crash or thrown away. Mail Server is kept somewhere else, and even deleted files are kept, it is not possible only select emails from six person were in bad sector of server. These servers are backed up.

NSA has a copy, ask them. Don’t have to beg for print copies (required by law) and system backups.

I don’t think Oama’s administration is all that worried about this. They’ve had time to destroy whatever they wanted to and they’ve already gotten away with so much I think now they are just grandstanding.

““We believe the standard IRS protocol was followed in 2011 for disposing of the broken hard drive. A bad hard drive, like other broken Information Technology equipment, is sent to a recycler as part of our regular process,” an IRS spokesman said in response to a query from POLITICO.”

Wait a minute.... the story was that she kept her non-IRS emails stored locally. She KNOWS that those records are to be kept. That is required by law. It is NOT standard procedure to recycle a hard drive THAT CONTAINS FEDERAL RECORDS REQUIRED BY LAW TO BE KEPT!

All this is is Obama shooting double birds at Congress.

This is a bald faced lie. The U.S. government has been absolutely anal retentive when it comes to data preservation since the days of the Cold War. There are multiple redundancies for ALL government collected data, no matter how small. Heck, civilian businesses and mom and pop operations do this now.

Politico is trying to sell this myth? How about the House Bank that wasn't a bank and let House members write checks for more than they were paid (with unlimited NSF ability)? Try again, boys, this bird won't fly.

“making it likely the lost emails...will never be found, according to multiple sources.”

Who are these so called “multiple sources”? Most likely they are White House operatives telling the MSM to repeat and disseminate their lies.

Put people under oath. Make them tell their story under pain of perjury.

Well ...OF COURSE it was recycled. They used it to weight down Osama before sinking him.

I guess you can call it that. Obama says they are gone.

Move on.

Now we need 100 million people to stop filing taxes.
