NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Thursday that at least a few thousand more Russian troops were now at Ukraine's eastern border, a build-up he called a regrettable step backwards.
"We now see a new Russian military build-up around the Ukrainian border. At least a few thousand more Russian troops are now deployed," Rasmussen said in London.
"I consider this a very regrettable step backwards. It seems Russia keeps the option open to intervene further in Ukraine," he said. "The international community would have to respond in a firm manner if Russia were to intervene further in Ukraine."

But...but...They said Russia has to put more efforts for border security!
At the end of May the Ukraine PM demanded that Russia take steps to control and seal it's border with Ukraine. Now Russia takes steps to do so and the Ukraine screams and waves it's arms about Russian troops on the border.
Yet another example of Ukraine propagandists working overtime.
You ought to know the Russian border troops are responsible for those duties, so the presence of the Russian Ground Forces (Army) is a provocation threatening further invasions of the Ukraine. So stop with your dissembling and false prpagandizing.
That's like Canada complaining that too many people are sneaking into Windsor and asking the US to beef up border security - and the US, instead of sending 50-100 more customs and enforcement deputies, sends an armored division instead.
You're the propagandist.
The Kiev Coup/Obama lovers instantly go to personal attacks when they're confreonted with FACTS.
Personal, eh?
Ukraine propagandists working overtime
That's like the samovar calling the pot shiny.
Here are the actual facts:
Russia sends neo-Nazis like the Terek wolves and operatives like the Little Green Men over the Ukraine border to foment unrest.
The Ukraine calls Russia out on the deliberate provocation.
Russia responds: "What? We don't know these guys! They may carry our passports, but they're not with us!"
Ukraine responds: "OK, whatever. Clearly you won't admit what you're doing, but stop the flow of these crooks over your border."
Russia responds not by beefing up border security with more border police, but by moving up regular army units to the border.
Your argument saying Russia should not be at its border is a strange thing to argue with conservatives. Most of us would be thrilled if the US would put troops on our southern border and defend the US.
No, it got out of hand when the kleptocrat in charge thought that he could deprive Ukrainians of their right of assembly, and assumed no one in the world would notice.
Your argument saying Russia should not be at its border is a strange thing to argue with conservatives.
I understand that in Russia "conservative" means "National Bolshevik thug", but in America conservatives do not trust governments when they deploy armies within our borders.
Most of us would be thrilled if the US would put troops on our southern border and defend the US.
No one who cares about the Constitution or the Posse Comitatus Act would see indefinite martial law involving standing armies on US soil as a good idea.
Troops deployed throughout the US would trouble most conservatives. Troops protecting our border would be immensely popular, except with the DC politicians and the Chamber of Commerce crowd.
Oh, I'm sure they would be - at first.
It's OK to violate the Constitution as long as it's violated in a way that pleases me.
And then, over time, we start to realize why the Founding Fathers were smarter than Tom Tancredo.
My, you do have great difficulty understanding even simple English.
"Personal" is what you posted to me calling me personally a "propagandist" for not agreeing with your absolutely absurd viewpoint. "Propagandists" as I used the word referred to the authors of the article I linked to, writers who have been cheerleaders for the Kiev Coup Kiddies for a long time even prior to their coup putting them in power.
You, therefore, resort to personal attacks whereas I called the authors of an article propagandists. As usual, you pretend something was said that was not said, that is, you pretend I attacked you personally.
People are not nearly as stupid as you seem to think they are. They see through those transparent little "pot shiny" types of snark and they know that such folks tend to be simpletons who cannot intelligently debate an issue but cannot stand to have anyone disagree with them.
Those who immediately and constantly resort to personal attacks are essentially children. Children prone to little tantrums when anyone dares to disagree with them.
Have a nice day
I'm happy to debate the issue - but even as you clamor for debate, you sidestep it, because your case is unsustainable.
The US Constitution limits the powers of the federal government. One of the few things the feds are supposed to do is “protect and defend the Unitied States” from invasion. The best place to do that is at our borders.
Ah, the usual misuse of the word "invasion."
You realize, of course, that when the Constitution was adopted, US borders were completely porous?
I’m not a cheerleader for the Kiev coup. I don’t want to support their provocations. One of their first acts was to demote the use of Russian as one of the official languages of Ukraine. They started the Civil War conflict and I do not want to see the US getting involved in more mischief in the world. Of course the powers that be in the world have their own agenda and no one listens to the average US citizen. We just have to sit here and watch news reports of an escalating conflict between different ethnic groups with more people dying every day and hope it won’t be US troops dying over there next.
Neither do I but John McCain got involved in this right from the start.

The implied comparison of any modern State with aircraft and modern electronics to the capabilities of the US when the Constitution was ratified is beyond laughable, it's a clear cut case of grasping at straws.
Then again, among typical democrat fascist Obama lovers such grasping at straws is commonplace since they operate on the assumption that anyone who doesn't agree with them is stupid enough to not notice.
So the Constitution is a "living document" then?
Difference being, these Russian troops are there to facilitate arms crossing the border. RT tweeted it. ;)
