K.

Now that the primary is over.... make someone vote for them in the general.

The GOP isn't owed a vote because of a majik R.

Good luck with that.

If you can't nuke 'em in the primary, nuke 'em in the general.

Come on, Iowa is a blue state. The very last thing Iowa wants is a conservative representing ANY district in the state.

Young overcame an early lead from state Sen. Brad Zaun, a tea party-backed legislator whom Democrats were already targeting for comments they characterized as extreme.

Oh crap..... Not another Todd Akin / Richard Mourdock moment I hope. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. It seems like there could be someone who would "step up to the plate" and hold training sessions for Tea Party candidates before they start their campaigns and face the media and general public.

The thread seems to be missing some important facts.

The establishment pretty much ran the table in Iowa this year.

Young was the fifth place finisher in the 3rd district primary on June 3rd. He’s about as establishment as it gets, being the former chief of staff in DC for Senator Grassley.

But, since no one got the required 35% in the primary, this special convention was required.

The establishment delegates’ first choice was fourth place finisher Monte Shaw, a lobbyist for the ethanol industry. But when it became apparent that the first place finisher, conservative Brad Zaun, was going to win, and Shaw got knocked out, the Shaw delegates virtually all threw their support to David Young, putting him over the top.

This article represents a desperate Dem attempt to smear David Young. I do not envy the Third District delegates, having to choose between several outstanding candidates. I am sure that 99% of the Republicans will unite behind Young. Radical Staci Appel in Congress is too horrible to contemplate.
