It's important to remember that white voters in Iowa gave Obama a 51%-48% margin over Romney in 2012.

Iowa is not a Conservative state.

Chuck Grassley (R), the retiring Senator, is a political institution there, and he could consistently pull down 65% of the vote.

I don't think there is another Republican in the state who could get even close to that number.

Grassley isn’t retiring. Tom Harkin the democrat senator is the one retiring. Thus the possibility of a republican pick up.

Sen. Grassley has been very quiet with regard to the Senate Race for Harkin’s seat. He could be a tremendous help to Joni Ernst’s campaign this fall. What are the chances that he would campaign for her in the General Election?
